What our customers say about their holidays

We greatly enjoyed our stay in No.
3. We all felt immediately at home in the large and well-appointed apartment, which was presented in a clean and homely fashion. The view over the beach to Thurlestone rock is something we never tired of and were lucky to be there during a period of extremely high and low tides, so got to experience the full range of conditions. The entry instructions given to us were accurate and we didn't have to contact Sykes for any help. The welcome hamper from Aune Valley Farm Shop was a lovely touch. The master bedroom, with views over the sea, is very spacious, with a lovely en-suite. The other two bedrooms face inland and are smaller, but also comfortable. The lounge is huge and we spent many hours in there. We would happily return to Thurlestone Apartments for another stay and were sad to leave. It was lovely and everything we hoped it would be. Some room for improvement in a few areas. The door and window locks are sticky and some were unusable. They have been gummed up by salt spray. The main balcony door is drafty. OK in the summer, but it must be cold out of season. Guests will need to keep the main windows clear of salt spray. There is glass cleaning spray under the sink, but the windows had not been cleaned when we arrived. If the Wi-fi isn't working, as it wasn't for us on arrival, just turn it off and on again. Worked a treat thereafter and plenty of bandwidth for all of us to stream. Finally, not a criticism of No. 3, but the building owners should prevent the Housemartins from nesting in the eaves. The large pile of bird droppings at the main door is not the best first impression. For first time visitors, I would advise against taking the lane to South Milton Beach. This is crazy narrow and a test of nerve and reversing skills if faced with oncoming traffic. The road in from Galmpton and Malborough has its narrow bits, but is much easier to navigate.

The property was delivered to us dirty.
There was body hair behind the bathroom door, many of the dishes were dirty as well as the cutlery. The windows were filthy, based on one reason to stay was the view, we had to wash the windows to see out of them. The door lock was temperamental between the bedroom and the balcony, this made it unusable. We had taken the time to recycle, but no bins on site and we were advised to travel miles to dispose of the rubbish. Struggled with this as we are all trying to help the environment. The sofas were uncomfortable and my wife had to sit on a dining chair for most of the week. The beds were great though and very comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped and the location was very peaceful. We visited whilst a storm happened, so the waves delivered a real treat as they crashed over the rocks. The hot water was on restricted timings, but we managed this and never ran out, it does take planning. The location was amazing and weâd only wish the pool was running over Easter for the children. We considered rebooking but for the price of £1000 (thereabouts) we would have expected a better standard of cleanliness in the apartment, and comfort in the lounge.

The host has been extremely helpful, in letting us know what eating places there was nearby by.
And had also provided brochures and books about all the places nearby. The host had left us scones and cream, and milk and butter in the fridge and a bottle of wine, The hot tub had been emptied and we where told when it would be at the ideal temperature. There was two bathroom robes, which was a useful touch. There was plenty of hot water, and the heater was on,and was lovely and cosy. Beautiful view of the sea. The hosts have a friendly dog, which puts his head and paws on the fence to great you. Thereâs a washing machine and a foldaway airer and pegs and laundry basket which was very useful,as we did a load the day before we left. Loads of soft lovely towels. We found the matteress too soft for what we are used to. I mentioned to the host that I could have done with a foot stool, and she said she was going to get one. Itâs lovely and private, and a lovely space outside with table and chairs, sun loungers and hottub. The host left us a disposable barbecue.. Thereâs a ironing board and iron, and a air dryer. We couldnât have had a better cottage,or hosts.

It was a magnificent view and so peaceful.
When we got to grips with the appliances everything was great. Except the shower. The hot water for the shower was only on from 6am to 9am and 6pm to 8.20pm! So my partner after a lie in on the first day and not yet knowing about the cut off time, had a cold shower. The morning times are manageable when we knew about them. The evening times were really silly. If we wanted a shower in the evening and then maybe a walk on the beach we would have to get dressed again after the evening shower. Instead of having a shower at say 10pm after the walk on the beach and being able to relax in our pajamas etc. My friend who stayed here last year said there was no such restrictions on the shower times when she stayed here. I did try to ring the 'emergency' number to query this and had a phone call several hours later which I missed. Good job it was not a 'emergency'! What can I say - we managed. If the hot water in the shower must be limited how about splitting the time in the evening to say 6pm to 7pm then 9.30 to 10.30 to give your guests some flexibility.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Reach.
I think it must have been our fifth stay there, although our first since lockdown. It is greatly improved since our last stays. Well equipped and very clean. We have a few things to say: we would prefer a dishwasher over a washing machine, which we never used. We would also prefer a king sized bed over a double. The loo flush still needs attention - I found it very difficult to use. And the garden - is really being re-wilded? My husband didn't mind the waste-high weeds, but I wondered if that is the look you are going for. Otherwise we cannot fault the cottage and we were very grateful to you for allowing us to bring our two little Jack Russells - who had a great time. You have an exceptional cottage in absolutely the most wonderful location in the whole area. Thank you very so much for such a lovely stay. We love it!
