This is a lovely house, very clean and recently decorated, with comfortable accommodation, including a very nice sitting room and friendly dining room, with space for all 6 of us. There was good central heating, although the mild week we were there, it wasnt needed much. The kitchen is spacious and pretty well stocked with cooking equipment etc, (although with only 4 seats, if anyone wanted to eat there, which we didnt). The house is just off the main street of Minehead (many useful shops, cafes, bars, Coop etc), 2 minutes from the rail station (lovely train ride!) and bus stops, 3 minutes from the esplanade and views across the amazing beach. Although so close to all the facilities, it was very quiet. The best location ever. Friendly and good communication from the owners, with accurate instructions on how to find the house (although the town one-way system slightly confused us, on our first arrival!). Good book of words in the house, with instructions and ideas of places to visit. Minehead is a pretty Edwardian town, with some very fine houses, and wide grand beach with a mix of shingle, stone, boulders and sand. The bus services took us easily to where we wanted to go, along the coast in both directions. We would be happy to stay in this house again.

It is situated in a private courtyard with parking for 2 cars yet you walk out of the house, through a private gate and straight onto the seafront. The West Somerset Steam Railway is on your right and the beach on your left. A great place for railway enthusiasts to stay. The House itself has everything you need for a great stay. It’s exceptionally clean and well presented. Comfortable and well equipped. Extremely dog friendly. Children are well catered for with a cupboard full of games and books and a games room with full size table tennis table and lots of buckets and spades. Lovely bedrooms and bathrooms with quality bed linen and towels. Gary and Tracy the owners make you feel extremely welcome. I would highly recommend Beachside Cottage to everyone as it would suit all age groups, dog owners, ramblers especially people walking the South West Coastal Path. The Exmoor Coastal Bus stops next to the railway station. Minehead has some really good shops, restaurants and pubs and on your first night when you’ve had a long drive you can’t beat the fish and chip shop next to the station. We will definitely be back.

We would highly recommended, we couldn't fault a single thing. Very clean, beautifully furnished, light and bright. Lounge was very comfortable and kitchen and the dining room spacious. Showers were great and all the kitchen appliances worked well and there were plenty of instructions left in the book. The beds were comfy and the garden was well maintained and peaceful. The games room and utility was a super place for us to play table tennis and darts with the kids. The owners were very helpful and communication was great. We were out most of the days as we were lucky enough to have lovely weather and the cottage is so close to everywhere. We went on the steam train (which is next door) and visited Dunster castle, Watchet, Tropiquaria zoo which is super and Lynmouth and also Butlins for the day all of which we thoroughly enjoyed. But it was lovely to come back to such a fantastic holiday home for the evening. We feel lucky we had the best cottage in Minehead to stay in! Thank you for having us, Jon and family.

Wifi, although advertised as available, was non secured and would not connect anyway.
Not really a problem for us, but might be for others who may need it. There is a very noisy main road just below the property, the noise from which is quite invasive by day when outside or if windows are open. However it dissipates at night. Having said that, the woodland location and seclusion is perfect for those who enjoy walking and wildlife (we saw deer rutting, a fox, rabbits, birds of prey and squirrels from the house, and were serenaded by an owl (Little Owl?) most nights. There are numerous walks from the door, or further afield. The cottage itself is very warm and cosy, with plenty of wood for the fire/woodburer and piping hot water. We were only contacted twice by the caretaker, once to make sure we had arrived and were happy, and once just before we left to give us leaving details. Other than that we were left to our own devices. Just as we like. There were not reams of rules and regulations as is sometime the case at holiday cottages, so we instantly felt at home. Just one or two niggles : the upstairs loo takes an age to refill and the upstair shower head is "lazy" and wont stay upright. Perhaps a mirror over the basin would be better for those who wet shave. As a cottage in which to recharge the batteries it is perfect and had the desired effect.

However, this was our first time staying in the centre of town & although the property is located beside a small parade of shops, it is also very secluded. Having stayed on North Hill earlier in the year (as this was already booked for our dates) it was lovely to be ‘on the flat’ & have everything on your doorstep. We read the previous review about noise from the traffic & air conditioning units & was a bit concerned about this. But have to say that we had no issues with either. The property was very clean & well equipped. The garden is lovely & the decking area perfect for sitting & reading or enjoying a drink or cup of tea. The utility / games room is also a great addition & darts & table tennis equipment is all provided. We loved it so much that we have already booked it again for 2 weeks next year!
