Holiday Cottages in or near The Broads National Park

East Anglian holiday cottages located in or near the Broads National Park in Suffolk and Norfolk. Beautiful riverside properties available. The Broads is the UK's largest protected wetland and significant wildlife habitat and are a man-made creation, created by peat diggers in Medieval times and used by Victorians for transportation. Located in Norfolk and extending into Suffolk they provide 125 miles of navigable lock-free tidal rivers and 63 'broads' or shallow waterways up to 4 metres in depth. As sustainable tourism The Broads are perfect for bird-watching, canoeing, cycling, fishing, motor-boating, sailing and walking. The Broads stretch from Norwich in the west to Great Yarmouth on the coast, Lowestoft to the south and Hickling to the north. Hiring a motor boat, narrow boat or yacht is a great way to explore, mooring at sleepy villages like Acle, Potter Heigham, Wroxham, Beccles and Bungay which are immortalised in the children's books by Arthur Ransome like Coot club. Accommodation on 'dry land' could be a converted grain mill or a waterfront lodge.
