What our customers say about their holidays

  • Amanda - Verified booking

Firstly, looking at the price of Viola Cottage we were charged and the price it is being advertised this Autumn my daughter and I feel it was much too high.

Last year we would have expected to pay about £600 for such a property and although we realise coronavirus has altered prices, at least I hope, temporarily - it was too high. A fairer price would have been around £700. The cottage itself was spotlessly clean but there were no bath towels and those that were there were like hand towels and in a cupboard in the utility room - the choice of crockery and cutlery fell short with nothing matching and there wasn't even a single wine glass in the cupboard and I am sure most people when on holiday may want a glass of something! As for the rather arrogant notice sent to us the day before we left instructing us how to leave the cottage I certainly took offence. My daughter and I have owned holiday cottages in the past and everyone's standards are different. I would not have dreamt of sending such a notice. I know how to leave a holiday cottage - just as I found it, spotless and tidy with the beds stripped and the linen folded in the bath. A sad ending for me not to be trusted.

    Wow viola you didn't disappoint.

..what a fantastic cottage warm spotlessly clean comfortable, there's nothing you could want it's all there ! 20 out of 10 . We met the owner when he came to put the bins out for us what a lovely man and he even sent us details of berrybrae stone circle very close by and worth a visit , very short walk to reach it .we visited aikeybrae stone circle also bit of a longer walk but definitely also worth visiting. We had a ride to cullykhan bay spectacular. We mostly enjoyed walking on the beach literally two minutes from the door of the cottage, we went left down on the beach and past the little harbour and through the rocks to the magnificent beach at the back of inverallochy golf course. One week was definitely not long enough and we absolutely must go back very soon for longer too much to explore still . But for now st combs and viola cottage we've left a little bit of our hearts with you .

    Very ‘spacious’ little cottage.

Well equipped and comfortable kitchen/dining room. Great sofas and fresh, decor. Quality bedding and comfy beds, though had to use one of singles as we found double a little small (we are used to a super king size, probably not a problem for a lot of people and we did get used to the smaller size and understand that bed needs to fit the room) We did have a slight problem with the heating, which seemed to switch itself off. Our stay was during the coldest week of the year, we tried not to use it too much, having a holiday let of our own, found it a little bit cold when sitting in the living roo, would a wood burner be a option? Loved the wee, nicely furnished bathroom. Really enjoyed our stay and Daisy cottage. Moffat a great location and great place to stay. Many thanks.

We've stayed in a few holiday lets in Dunoon over the past four years and this was a lovely place to stay with panoramic views across the West Bay.

We immediately felt at home and the views were stunning. We stayed for a week and had a great time. Beds were very comfy with lovely bedlinen and it was warm and clean on arrival.Big spacious rooms so it was lovely to have a good central heating system when needed! The shower was great with good pressure. We loved it there and would book again in a heartbeat. Only points we would make are that the drive is very steep though which may impact on other guests who are less mobile or who are less confident about driving up and down it. We also noticed there was no grill pan or oven trays in the kitchen.A few garden chairs or a bench outside the front door would be a bonus too. These were minor issues for us as we thoroughly enjoyed our time there. Can recommend and we will be back!

A lovely wee cottage in a super wee village.

The wonderful beach is a 3 minute walk away- our dogs loved their twice daily trips to it. The cottage is warm, clean and well equipped. A lovely welcome basket was much appreciated. Comfortable beds and a good bathroom. We loved the wee utility room for getting dogs dried and fed. They also loved the garden as did we. Beautiful sunrises! Would have attached a photo but function not available. Was super to sit in the kitchen talking about our trips out and planning our days. Loved the hoover- so many cottages do not have good hoovers but this was a good one to get up sand and crumbs. Visited Peterhead Prison Museum, the Museum of Lighthouses and Aden Country Park. We will certainly be back. Thank you.
