  MY friend and I had a lovely holiday in Precint House.

  In fact I have already recommended it to some friends. My only issue would be the second bedroom regarding the height of the bed. I totally understand it is in keeping with everything else in the house. However may I suggest a small stepping stool for getting in and out. I will admit that this is a bit selfish because I used that bed (which was really comfortable and wonderful duvet). However I have some physical health issues, now I managed to ve careful getting in and out of bed. However in one night in the middle of the night I dropped my pillow accidentally on to the floor leaned down to thr floor to pick it up without thinking and of course I couldn't push myself back up so tried to slide onto the floor and we'll it didn't work and I bashed my forehead. Thankfully apart from a bump and headaches was fine. Please do not not take this as a complaint but just A suggestion. Whithorn was such a friendly place to be and you never had very far to travel to different places in thr surrounding area. Loved thr Musem and Roundhouse. From thr moment we opened thr front door we were just overjoyed and were grateful for thr lovely flowers reas and biscuits that awaited us. Thank you for providing such a special holiday home.   Montrose was perfectly situated. There is a small parking area(about 10spaces but free from 1730-0700) only about 80yards from the property. If you come from the south side they are both on the right (property first) if that car park is full there is a bigger car park (as you face the small car park ..look right there is a road looking up hill ..its straight in front). I will start with the positives first..The flat was very clean ..it has all the things you'd expect eg fridge cooker microwave smoothie/blender toaster. The heating system easy to follow. The shower is in the corner of the kitchen ..you will understand when you stay there.. there is also 2 bedrooms and dining room. Now the negatives but not as bad as what you might think. On arriving we tried the WiFi on the Internet box ..it didn't match ..I txt the owners and they said it was in the folder in the kitchen ..it worked..the toilet is small and just becareful as there is a step leading upto the toilet itself ..we tripped on it a few times. You do hear the traffic going past at all times as you are on the main road. Would we stay there again ..aye would

  My recommendation score of zero is relating to Sykes cottages, rather than the actual property.

  I had originally booked this cottage for another date. Something cropped up and rather than cancel the booking I asked to move the date, which was duly done. However, my original booking had a cost of over £700 for the week. The revised date had a cost of £450. Sykes cottages continued to charge me the full amount! So, had the reverse been the case, would I have only had to pay £450 for a £700 week? I doubt it! I challenged this and Sykes tried to say that the matter was up to the owner... and refused to discuss it further. I booked this cottage through Sykes, not the owner. This should have been dealt with by Sykes. Needless to say, I will NEVER book another stay through Sykes Cottages. Customers beware. The actual cottage was located in a gorgeous setting with spectacular views. Inside the cottage, although comfortable, the facilities are dated and this property would benefit from investment. Particularly the hot tub and sauna area - very dated.

  The property is very good ,however there are evidence of damp in main bedroom ,there isn’t any heating upstairs radiators not working ,and sockets are in areas that don’t support needs .

  The beds are supper comfy but a thicker duvet in the cooler season may be better however there were blankets provided in an ottoman in bedroom . The underfloor heating downstairs very good but the radiator in bathroom doesn’t work so towels still damp when needed next . The T V didn’t work . The settee and chair are very firm although they are in keeping with the furnishing in the room they are not very comfortable. Everything else is beautiful ,quirky and inviting when you arrive . There was fresh milk and beverage for you when arrived . Kitchen very well equipped . The actual area was disappointing as we were just out of season and everything was shut and even travelling to other areas which is a while away it was bleak. Also the mood of residents and business staff were not welcoming just sad . This is a place I won’t be going to again as it’s facility’s are very limited . This is just my opinion .

  Quaint little cottage in middle of Whithorn.

  Unique features in oldie worldie cottage but needs some updates. Sofa and main chair in front room requires re-upholstering as they cause back pain and are generally uncomfortable, we’re also convinced we were getting bitten by some form of insect whilst on sofa. Main bedroom needs electrical point near a main mirror for hair drying etc. Property quite dark even with all blinds / curtains open. Had to keep lights on in certain rooms. On the plus side, very central for exploring this part of Scotland. Accommodation has pretty much all the facilities you need for a comfortable stay. The Railway Pub (5 minute walk away), is a nice place to have your evening meals if you can’t be bothered to cook with the ample cooking equipment in the kitchen. Just needs a few little tweaks to make this a 5 star property instead of a 4.
