The front garden stretches wide, perfect for games or moments with a book, while table tennis adds a playful touch for all ages. Evenings are best spent dining al-fresco by the barbecue, no doubt enjoying good produce from local markets.
Set in the Charente region of France, the château enjoys a well-connected location between Luxé and the riverside town of Mansle. In Mansle, cafés, bakeries and local markets offer an authentic taste of French life, while the gentle flow of the Charente River invites walks, fishing, summer kayaking and relaxed afternoons by the water.
Dine out in restaurants across villages such as Luxé, Tusson and Aigre, discover wonderful markets and brocantes across the region. Indeed, one of the oldest Cognac houses in France, Maison Gautier, is only 12 minutes away in Aigre and offers an excellent tour and tasting experience.
Further afield, Angoulême brings cultural flair and vibrant streets or spend the day soaking up the charm of Poitiers - both cities can be reached by train from nearby Luxé. Meanwhile, Cognac itself offers the chance to explore its world-renowned distilleries.

Set in the Charente countryside, Château de Briand enjoys a beautiful setting within seven acres of grounds including woodland. This is a place where days unfold to the rhythm of rural French life, yet with easy access to nearby towns and villages rich in character and charm.
The château is located on the road leading to the historic town of Mansle, a relaxed yet well-serviced hub with supermarkets, bakeries, café bars and restaurants. Set along the banks of the Charente River, the town is ideal for leisurely strolls, summer canoeing and kayaking, fishing or simply enjoying the authentic atmosphere.
Even closer to the château, there is a train station only 2km away with services to Ruffec, Angoulême and Poitiers (and connecting TGV services to Bordeaux and Paris) as well as a couple of highly regarded restaurants – do check opening days/times in advance. The local hippodromes in Luxé and Mansle have events throughout the summer.
Further restaurants can be found within a short drive. Indeed, the surrounding area is dotted with picturesque villages and lively market towns, each offering its own appeal. Discover the medieval charm of Tusson (9km), visit and tour the famous Cognac distillery in Aigre (11km) or explore the riverside beauty of Verteuil-sur-Charente (17km) and the abbey at Nanteuil-en-Vallée (28km). Meanwhile, Ruffec (22km) is particularly delightful on market day.
For a wider range of shops and cultural experiences, Angoulême (32km) makes an excellent day trip, famed for its hilltop old town, vibrant café culture and the renowned National Comic Strip and Image Centre, as well as its classic car race in September.
For a memorable excursion, Cognac (50km) invites you to tour its famous distilleries and sample its world-renowned spirit, while the Charente Valley itself offers endless opportunities for scenic walks and river adventures. The theme parks Futuroscope and Aquascope are just over one hour away and can even be accessed by direct train from nearby Luxé.
