About this property

A picture-perfect villa set in the bucolic landscapes of the Lot-et-Garonne, Manoir Campagnard exudes historic character with its beautiful interiors and striking pigeonnier. Yet its contemporary charms will entice you as you kick back in the elegant living spaces and rest across its spacious en suite bedrooms.

This 18th century manoir has undergone a remarkable restoration since its owners fell in love with the house and gardens in 2019. As keen food lovers themselves, they have created the most stunning kitchen with high-end appliances whilst the French oak table in the stylish dining room, set by the woodburning fire, is the perfect place for regional feasts with family and friends. Wine-lovers have their own private cellar for tastings by candlelight – allow the owners to help you arrange a custom-made wine-tasting experience sampling the best vintages of this magnificent region.

The wood-beamed lounge upstairs has been designed with convivial evenings in mind whilst on the lower floor a children’s lounge, which doubles up as a quad en suite bedroom, features a Smart TV to watch whilst lazing on the huge sofa. The six main doubles are all sumptuous in style, dotted across the main and upper levels, featuring king-size beds, high quality linen and en suite shower rooms with hairdryers and toiletries.

Stepping outside, the courtyard is simply idyllic with its generous dining areas, al-fresco lounge and firepit or you may prefer to set up meals on the breakfast terrace overlooking the peaceful gardens and trees. Soak up the tranquil ambience as you play pétanque or table tennis, then dip into the salt-water heated swimming pool with gorgeous countryside views and the summer aroma of lavender.

Set in a little hamlet surrounded by rural farmland where sunflowers and golden wheat often grow, this is French country living at its best, located in one of the most authentic regions of south-western France. Potter to the local market in the delightful town of Cancon, known for its production of hazelnuts, or head south for yet more traditional markets as well as adventures on the Lot River near Castelmoron and Villeneuve-sur-Lot. In the summer months there are ample opportunities for canoeing, kayaking and other water-based activities along the river or nearby lakes.

Visit some of France’s most characterful villages including Monflanquin, Issigeac and Monpazier, sample prunes steeped in Armagnac in historic Agen and venture to the scenic vineyards around the enchanting hilltop town of Saint-Émilion, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Bergerac is another fine day out, on the banks of the Dordogne with impressive architecture, excellent wines and superb restaurants. Explore its medieval quarter, take a boat trip along the river and visit some of the town’s nearby vineyards and wineries such as the wonderful Château de Monbazillac.

Manoir Campagnard is in a beautiful location in the Lot-et-Garonne department of Aquitaine, south-western France. In a little hamlet surrounded by rural farmland, you may be fortunate enough to admire summer sunflowers or golden wheat in the neighbouring fields.

Every morning you will be able to find an atmospheric market in a nearby village or town selling some of the most delicious regional produce. Start off in the small town of Cancon (9km), home of the Cancon hazelnut, with its historic houses, charming hilly lanes and magnificent panoramas - the weekly market takes place on a Monday morning.

To the south, Villeneuve-sur-Lot (20km) is another picturesque spot on the banks of the Lot River, dating back to the 13th century and hosts a fantastic twice-weekly market. Look out for the marché gourmand on Friday evenings in July and August alongside other summer festivities and events. Heading south-west, there are plenty of water-based activities in Castelmoron-sur-Lot (16km) such as canoeing, kayaking and supervised summer swimming or simply soak up the ambience of the village’s Wednesday morning market.

This region is wonderful for walkers with many trails through the Lot-et-Garonne countryside and beyond, including a challenging but stunning hike between Villeneuve-sur-Lot and the picture-perfect village of Pujols (22km). As well as cycling, horse-riding and other outdoor adventures, enjoy spending time at Lac de Lougratte (14km) lake swimming and summer watersports.

Other much-loved villages dotted across the landscapes include the bastide town of Monflanquin (22km) and Dordogne’s idyllic Issigeac (32km), both classified as two of France’s ‘Plus Beaux Villages’. Then there’s Duras (43km) in the scenic Dropt valley, close to the Gironde border, and gorgeous Monpazier (42km) with its perfectly preserved medieval centre.

Try prunes steeped in Armagnac in the handsome town of Agen (42km), venture further to the award-winning vineyards of Saint-Émilion (87km), a unesco World Heritage site, or make the most of a day out in Bergerac (52km) with its historic architecture and beautiful setting on the Dordogne River.

Manoir Campagnard was the best getaway we have ever had with friends and family. An easy drive from fashionable Bordeaux, the property took us back to a pastoral way of life. The history of the place was everywhere — the pigeonniere, for example — but the luxury was very today. The roomy bedrooms with their beautiful light and fancy bedding, not to mention ensuite bathrooms were perfect. The renovated upstairs common area, the amazing wine cellar (!!) and the glamorous but user-friendly kitchen were places you would want to spend time. Oh, and the pool! And the view over farm fields and the tree-lined property, all seen from a courtyard while dining al fresco. And you would dine al fresco after shopping at local markets in towns like, Villereal, and bringing home wine bottles from nearby vineyards. Everything seems to be only a short drive away. And yet, the place is yours and your loved ones’ for the time you are there. Kind of dreamy. Like a Monet painting

Excellent. There were some wasps paying round the pool water level alarm on arrival, but this has been resolved as the pool person came to attend to the nest. It would be a good idea to have a tin of wasp killer available in the house!

We had the immense pleasure of staying at manoir Campagnard in the heart of France, and every aspect of our experience was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we stepped onto the gorgeous estate, we were enveloped in an aura of opulence and grandeur that surpassed my wildest expectations.
The bedrooms were a true masterpiece of luxury and comfort. The spaciousness of each room was a welcome surprise and the attention to detail was evident in every corner that exuded an air of sophistication. Waking up in the morning to the gentle rays of the sun streaming through the windows and casting a warm glow on the room was an experience we will cherish forever.
One of the gems of the property, was the pool area. Set amidst the lush landscape, the pool provided a serene oasis of relaxation. The crystal-clear waters invited us to take a refreshing dip, and as we swam, we marvelled at the picturesque views that surrounded us. Gazing over the farmers' fields and the neighbouring sunflower-strewn expanses was like stepping into a dream. The vibrant colors of the sunflowers against the backdrop of the blue sky created a visual spectacle that was utterly captivating.
The chateau's chef's kitchen and pantry were a haven for culinary enthusiasts. Equipped with top-of-the-line appliances and every tool imaginable, the kitchen was a playground for creating gourmet delights. With fresh, locally sourced ingredients at my fingertips, we indulged in cooking experiences that delighted both the palate and senses. The pantry was thoughtfully stocked with a curated selection of ingredients, making culinary exploration a delightful adventure.
Exploring the nearby villages and markets was a cultural journey like no other. The spectacular villages seemed frozen in time, each cobblestone street leading to charming cafes, boutiques, and artisanal shops. The bustling markets were a treasure trove of flavours and aromas, offering an authentic glimpse into the local way of life. From the array of cheeses to the vibrant array of produce, we reveled in the opportunity to immerse ourselves in the rich culinary traditions of the region.
In conclusion, our stay at Manoir Campagnard was an unforgettable experience that truly exceeded all expectations. The luxurious bedrooms, the captivating pool area, the breathtaking views of sunflower fields, the chef's kitchen, and the enchanting villages and markets all combined to create a stay that was nothing short of magical. We left with a heart full of cherished memories and a longing to return to this haven of French elegance.
