Just a short stroll brings you into the village, where you’ll find a traditional épicerie for local treats (near the edge of the village), as well as a hotel-restaurant serving good quality regional cuisine inside or on its pretty terrace (do reserve a table in advance).
Only a ten-minute drive away lies Gordes (8km), one of France’s most celebrated hilltop villages, renowned for its honey-coloured stone houses cascading down the hillside. Don’t miss its Tuesday morning market where you can stock up on regional delights, artisan crafts and lavender-based products. The village is equally rich in cultural heritage, long attracting artists and creatives inspired by its light and scenery. Galleries and exhibitions celebrate this artistic spirit, while landmarks such as the 16th-century Château de Gordes stand as proud reminders of its historic and cultural legacy.
Within a short drive, you can also discover a collection of other remarkable villages – Saint-Saturnin-lès-Apt (14km) with its medieval charm and cherry orchards, Goult (13km) with its laid-back authenticity, the artistic enclave of Ménerbes (20km) and the ochre-hued beauty of Roussillon (10km), one of France’s ‘Plus Beaux Villages’.
