Lahinch 3.4 miles. Originally built in 1882, this charming converted schoolhouse can now offer a small family or two couples a fantastic base from which to discover the wonders of County Clare. The Old School House is located near the towns of Liscannor and Lahinch, a haven for surfers and watersports lovers alike thanks to the excellent Atlantic breakers, as well as being near the famous Cliffs of Moher. Gather at the beautiful wood dining table for evening meals or early breakfasts, and spend a moment around the corner in the contemporary office space if you need to catch up on some work or want to plan the rest of the holiday. Walk into the kitchen area when you are feeling peckish and find a host of appliances to assist you in cooking, including an electric oven and a gas hob, and an integrated dishwasher for the washing up. Head outside on warm days and spend time in the large garden, with the spacious patio in the yard echoing the history of the property as well as the original columns that border onto the lawn. When you need some rest, choose from two well-presented bedrooms; either the pretty double bedroom or the master king-size bedroom which benefits from an en-suite shower room, as well as being a zip/link bed so it can be a twin on request to accommodate for different party types. At just over three-miles away, Lahinch and Liscannor can both offer a perfect place to enjoy a range of activities; head to the beach at Liscannor Bay and hit the waves if you're an avid surfer or even if you just want to give it a go, with surf schools available to teach you the basics and get you out on a board. Lahinch Golf Club with it's championship Links Course and Castle Course offer keen golfers two 18-hole courses to practice on, as well as both towns providing plenty of eateries and shops to sample some delicious food and browse the local crafts and produce. When you're in this area you must go to see one of Ireland's favourite tourist attractions, the stunning Cliffs of Moher along the wild Atlantic Way, with the best way to experience them being to hike from the delightful village of Doolin to avoid the crowds and the car park queues. Spend the rest of the day in Doolin and discover why its recognised for its traditional Irish music. Lahinch is a delightful coastal town at the head of Liscannor Bay with a beautiful long beach of golden sands. Known for being a 'surf centre' for the fantastic Atlantic breakers that form thanks to the shape of the bay, surfers and canoeing enthusiasts all flock here. The town offers an array of amenities including shops, pubs and restaurants, along with a lively social scene. Ramblers should visit the famous Cliffs of Moher for some excellent walking, or discover the ancient Aran Islands by catching a ferry from Doolin.
