Walking trails and cycling routes wind through the woods, while from the jetty on the lake, boat trips lead out to the uninhabited Inch Island and the historic Clogh Oughter Castle. The surrounding woodland and lakeshore form part of a designated Special Protection Area, home to red squirrels, otters, pine martens, and over 47 recorded bird species. The ruins of Drumlane Monastery overlook Lough Derrybrick, and a scenic 30-mile cycling loop runs through the towns of Belturbet, Miltown, and Killeshandra.
