About this property

Set in the grounds of a magnificent Cotswolds Manor House, The Compton Cottage is every inch the rural idyll. A timeless property in a location that is simply breath-taking. Nestling on the bank of the River Coln deep in the Cotswold hills, surrounded by farmland and nearby woods sits this beautiful, romantic gem. Once inside you will find a very special home. A contemporary, newly refurbished converted stable block that’s filled with designer furniture and fabrics. The neat touches throughout are as welcoming to a couple as for a family. Original beams and features remain, reminding you of the history of this grand old manor. Downstairs the shaker style kitchen and dining room finished to a very high spec is a perfect place to cook and relax. Upstairs is the living room, two luxury bedrooms and bathroom. All with uninterrupted views across the countryside. You could not be better located for a Cotswolds weekend or holiday retreat. Your dog is welcome too, with miles and miles of walks on your doorstep. As Cotswold cottages come this is exceptional! A choice you will thoroughly enjoy and no doubt return to.

Northleach IS just off the Roman road, the Fosse Way (A429) 8 miles north-east of Cirencester and 10 miles south-west of Stow-on-the-Wold, and about 7 miles from Burford - making it an excellent place to travel from if you're looking to visit these popular and attractive places. Northleach was at one time an important market town, celebrated throughout Europe as a major centre for the Cotswold wool trade! The fifteenth-century church of St Peter and St Paul, paid for by the wealthy wool merchants, was built with stone dug from the quarry in the town itself and what is now the Market Square. More recently the village has been used in a number of recent films, including the Casual Vacancy of 2015.

Every detail has been thought about very carefully, and the comfort level is extremely high. Very clean, and furnished and equipped to an extremely high level. We very much appreciated the thoughtful provisions and very yummy fresh eggs! The walled front garden was very safe and perfect for our little dog to explore and run around. Great, friendly communication with Claire who manages the cottage. We loved it so much that we have booked to stay a few days next month! Very highly recommended.
