Holymoorside is a small, rural village situated close to Chesterfield, on the edge of the Peak District National Park and within an easy driving distance of the well-known stunning Chatsworth House. This village is in peaceful countryside and has three churches and two pubs within a 5-minute walk, one which serves the award winning ales and the other serving good food. Just a 10-mile drive away is Bakewell, an attractive little market town retaining a delightful rural atmosphere and offering a good selection of shops, restaurants and pubs, as well as frequent local farmers’ markets. There is also a 17th-century market hall in the town centre and a modern leisure centre with swimming pool. The nearby town of Chesterfield has much to offer visitors.
The town is famous for its 14th-century church with ‘crooked spire’, twisting curiously from its centre, while the frequent bustling market days are ideal for exploring the many different specialist shops and stalls which line the old Market Hall and charming Shambles beyond. Loved our stay at the Barn, everything you need, lovely comfy furniture and beds, all appliances simple and easy to use, lovely courtyard with two sets of nice wooden furniture to sit on an evening can’t fault anything about this place which is why we’ve booked again for October, thanks to Ian, lovely host, and for the yummy biscuits, jam and milk that greeted us on arrival, would highly recommend 👍

Had a really good time at the Barn. Ian the friendly owner who we met has made a really good job of the restoration. It is spotless and comfortable. The patio gets the sun all day perfect for breakfast and dinner outside. Easy to get to Matlock and Bakewell and Chatsworth. Bus stop two minutes away to Chesterfield. Lamb Inn Quz night on Tuesday very friendly and enjoyable. Would definitely recommend a stay at the Barn.

Lovely conversion everything is modern and clean ( absolutely spotless) downstairs toilet and laundry room a nice touch.Sofa and chair not very comfortable but we didn't spend a lot of time in them. Outside space is a bit hit and miss, patio and views are awesome . Outside furniture a bit tired and rickety but serviceable. The rest of the garden being used as a yard so building bits scattered around. Owner lives next door, friendly and approachable. 😊Morrisons 5 minutes away and easy to get to, other than that we didn't really venture into Chesterfield. Really good location for Chatsworth, Haddon hall, Bolsover castle. Hardwick hall, Bakewell and the national tram museum all within 30 minutes drive. Overall very good value for money.
