Guests say

Yew Tree Cottage in Chesterfield is a well-received holiday rental, praised for its cleanliness, comfort, and thoughtful touches such as a welcome pack. The enclosed garden is a highlight, especially for dog owners, though caution is advised due to a Yew tree. The property is equipped for a pleasant stay, with some minor concerns about maintenance. Its location is appreciated for tranquillity and proximity to local amenities and the Peak District.

The majority of guests found the cottage to be very clean, with several reviews highlighting its cleanliness. One review mentioned a 'stuffy' smell and some unclean appliances, but this seems to be an isolated case.

The cottage is situated in a quiet village, ideal for dog walks and exploring the Peak District. Local amenities and attractions are within easy reach, although the parking is a short walk from the property.

Guests generally found the beds comfortable and the cottage cosy, with ample bedding and multiple sitting rooms. However, some guests noted the firmness of one of the beds and the steep stairs to the top floor.

The cottage is well-equipped, but there are several mentions of maintenance issues such as water pressure problems, an old washing machine, and a noisy bath rail. These issues suggest that some facilities may need updating or repair.

Many guests appreciated the welcome pack and the provisions for dogs, indicating a high level of thoughtfulness by the hosts. However, it should be noted that such gifts, while delightful, are not guaranteed for every stay.

We just got back after a lovely week in this cottage. It was clean and tiday and very well equipt to make our stay enjoyable. Although nights were chilly we remained warm without needing to light a fire in either of the two burners. The kitchen is lovely and well equipt, I enjoyed the snug and my wife and her mum loved the lounge recliners. Morrisons was about 3 miles away to stock up and an easy drive. The wifi was sufficient, but don't expect it to be high speed. The only negatives were the parking, which is further up the road than the instructions say, just look for the wooden pieces at the entrance. There is a Yew tree in the garden that was shedding its fruit, you should beware not to let kids or your dogs touch them, it can be fatal for humans or animals if the seeds are ingested. I had some trouble getting Sky to connect in the snug, but after a little fiddling in settings managed to easily. That said, this is a well appointed, warm and comfortable cottage, in a quiet location, ample bedding is supplied and we found the matress to the double bed comfortable. Note that there is a bit of an uphill stroll from the car parking area to the cottage, or a shorter path from the other side of the cottage. We really appreciated the welcome pack, and the useful info in the visitors pack. This is one of the better cottages we've stayed in 10/10.

Yew Tree cottage is situated in a small village with access to dog walks from the cottage. The cottage was very clean and ample space. The garden is enclosed with a stone wall that is around three foot high at it's lowest point so be aware if you have a dog that jumps. There is a Yew tree in the garden that at certain times of the year drops highly poisonous berries to dogs. So please be aware if you have a dog that eats everything. The main bedroom is on the top floor with access to the bathroom down a flight of stairs. We used the twin room by pushing the beds together which was comfortable. The double bed on the first floor was too hard for my liking but could be personal preference. There is a bit of an upward walk from the car to the cottage, so I wondered if it would be beneficial for other, for a wheelbarrow to be provided to take luggage up and down the slope to the cottage. We had a great time and managed to find lots of walks within a short drive from the cottage and the lovely town of Bakewell just 20 minutes drive away. Overall a lovely walking holiday was had with our three dogs.

Yew tree cottage was absolutely delightful, I was a little worried after reading some reviews but was so pleased. It was perfect for what we needed as a family and our cockapoo. It had absolutely everything you could possibly need for your holiday, even our dog was catered for which was a lovely welcome. (we took his own things and bed) The whole cottage smelt amazing, and was clean. Beds were super comfy, I loved the duvet sets. One of the pluses for me as well was lots of hangers in the wardrobe. We have been away many times and hardly any hangers so we always take our own now. But there was plenty, it's the little things that helps. The garden was a delight to sit in in the evening and early in the morning, we felt our dog was safe as the garden is enclosed. We loved the exposed rock just outside the door. Having 2 sitting rooms and bathrooms was also a plus. Thank you so much, we throughly enjoyed our week away at the cottage and explored the area.
