Located in Shirley a small attractive village, comfortably grouped around a lovely church just off the A52 Ashbourne to Derby road. Brynfields Cottage is a perfect retreat when you just need to spend some time in nature. You’ll be in a perfect location to explore Derbyshires Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty but taking the car to Ashbourne for some cultural sightseeing won’t take you too long either.
After you’re done with all that fresh air, this home-from-home will welcome you into its cosy and relaxed embrace, consisting of a beautiful balance between the old and the new. With a large garden, dining outdoors will become a comfortable routine in the summer, but you might be able to get a few nice days in the colder months as well. This cottage is great at bringing everyone together in the dining area or by the wood burner. At night, retreat to the quiet bedrooms for some well-deserved rest and prepare for a new day of exploring the naturally beautiful surroundings.
Nearby Ashbourne is the perfect example of an English market town, boasting an eccentric street plan, narrow, cobbled alleys, old market stalls and many fine coaching inns. In its heyday, during the 18th century, the town was a fashionable, social centre, and many fine Georgian buildings remain from this period. Today the town still has much to offer with a good selection of restaurants, whilst being regarded as something of a haven for antique hunters, but don’t expect a bargain! For those who prefer outdoor pursuits, the Dove and Manifold Valleys are close by offering good walking and cycling, whilst Alton Towers is just 25 minutes away!

We stayed here with our dog and 3 children. Upon arrival there was a hamper full of treats and snacks, a bottle of apple juice, fresh milk from the local farm in the fridge with a bottle of wine for us as well as tea, coffee and sugar canisters full! Was a very pleasant surprise and nice to have the essentials after the drive getting there. Our pup was very pleased with the jar of doggy treats too and he certainly made use of the comfy dog bed also provided! Dog water bowl outside was also full ready for him which was a very thoughtful touch on top of the lovely hamper for us. Kitchen was very well stocked (best we've seen yet when staying away!) Beds were very comfortable and beautifully made up and bedrooms decorated beautifully too!House was clean and cosy, sofa perfect for family movies in the evening and the garden is huge and secure. We loved the privacy and our children enjoyed playing outside even when raining!Our children said this has been their favourite holiday house yet! Will definitely be looking to stay again in future, Clare and Graham were excellent hosts and can tell they went the extra mile to make everything perfect for us ❤️
