This is a lovely, detached stone Arkwright cottage in the village of Cromford, home to the famous Arkwight Mills in the Peak District National Park. Situated next to the owners’ home, the cottage has a lovely spacious feeling, making it ideal for a family holiday. On the ground floor is a large sitting room with beautiful exposed brickwork, wooden beams and a flame-effect gas fire, giving it a cosy feel whilst opposite is a fully-equipped traditional kitchen with a dining table. Upstairs are two comfortable bedrooms, both with low windows and views over Cromford towards the hills beyond. Outside, there is a patio and a gravelled area with a small path leading to a stone outbuilding, along with a further patio, with a stream running alongside, which also takes in the village views.
The cottage is situated just a ten minute walk from the High Peak Trail and associated cycle routes and the centre of Cromford is just a two minute walk away. This popular village has a fine selection of shops and pubs and just a couple of miles away, Matlock Bath has a huge selection of cafes and ice cream parlours, and is also the starting point for the cable car that takes you to the Heights of Abraham. The old mill town of Matlock has a superb range of craft shops, independent stores and bars, whilst the magnificent Chatsworth Estate is just ten miles away.

The house is down a lane off the main road so very quiet. It was beautifully clean and a nice welcome pack was left for us. Thereâs a nice locals pub near by, the Boat Inn, a good fish and chip shop and a small general store. The bus links are fantastic and the bus stop is only forty steps from the door. Couldnât fault it and hope to return next winter.

Owners on hand if needed, very obliging and they had given the cottage a Christmas once-over including a lovely tree. Welcome pack was like another Christmas present. Nice walks directly from the cottage with plenty to do and see in the village, Cromford Mills and canal and in nearby Matlock Bath where the raft race on Boxing Day was great fun. No hesitation in recommending the cottage to others and Would certainly consider another stay in the not too distant future.

Clean and nicely decorated for Christmas. The welcome basket was a really nice touch.
