About this property

Perched on the outskirts of Tansley, a rural village in Derbyshire, is this traditionally renovated cottage, Brookfield. Closely situated to the Peak District National Park, and enveloped by the open countryside, Brookfield is the perfect dwelling for a romantic break, sleeping two guests across a single storey. Travelling through the country lanes, reach the cottage, make use of the off-road parking on offer, and head towards Brookfield, a converted farm outbuilding; you'll be delighted by its character and original features. Entering the open-plan kitchen/diner, you'll find state-of-the-art appliances, granite worktops, a gas Lacanche, a TV and a farmhouse design, fitting for home cooked meals for two; exposed stone walls and a Belfast sink will complete the heart of the home. For alfresco dining under the stars, Through the hallway and beyond the cloakroom, you'll reach the stylish sitting room, furnished with a navy sofa, matching armchairs, oak flooring, a Smart TV and a woodburning stove; curl up and relax as the evening unfolds. Completing the interior, be wowed by the master bedroom, with king-size bed, TV, oak furniture, and a walk-in wardrobe/Storeroom, ready to make yourself at home, along with a contemporary shower room. Whilst Brookfield is set within the stillness of Derbyshire, there are several eateries, garden centres and walking trails to explore; The Highlands Cafe & Restaurant, and The Gate Inn are popular recommendations. Outside of the village, make memories at Lumsdale Waterfall, hike towards Harboro' Rocks, or engage with and feed local farm animals at Matlock Farm Park. For stunning views, head to Matlock Bridge and River, trail the Peak District and its walking routes, or aboard a cable car at Heights of Abraham. Matlock Bath Aquarium, Crich Tramway Village Museum, and Alton Towers are all accessible by car, fitting for all types of visits. For a peaceful stay in Derbyshire, choose Brookfield as your romantic abode.

Tansley is a small, rural community in the Derbyshire Dales, approximately 2 miles from Matlock, with two welcoming pubs and several brightly coloured garden centres. Matlock, the county town, is only 2 miles distant and was famous from 1698 to 1950 for its warm springs, which supplied water therapy to visitors from far and wide. Today, the town offers a variety of superb restaurants, decent shops, a fascinating museum, and Leys Hall Park, located in the centre of the town, offers a beautiful environment for a variety of leisure activities such as bowling, mini golf, tennis, boating, and a children's play area. Gulliver's Kingdom, with its owl maze, water gardens, nature trails, thrilling rides, and cable car rides over the picturesque Matlock Gorge, offers a fantastic day. The High Peak Cycle Trail is close, and the market town of Bakewell, Chatsworth House and Park, and Haddon Hall are all within easy driving distance. A fantastic setting for the whole family.

The owner has considered everything you might need for self-catering and for your comfort, with high-end furniture and fittings. Appliances include a large fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. The owner provides d/w tablets, washing machine detergent, coffee, tea, oil, salt and pepper mills (and a few UHT milk pots in case you forget to bring milk). There are televisions in the kitchen, lounge and bedroom. You will need a car to travel to shops or the pub. However, it’s a great cottage and we would happily return if in the area. Thank you. :-)
