The beautifully converted detached stone barn has been renovated and decorated to provide good standard accommodation all on the first floor. It’s in a private setting surrounded by attractive grounds, meadows and woods, home to the owners’ sheep and cows. Lucky guests will love Fishermans Lodge and there is river/coarse fishing on-site (licence required). Stepping inside you’ll appreciate the lovely ambience created by the restful colours on the walls, impressive antique furniture and fantastic art work. The charming open plan kitchen and living room with its crackling wood burner gives you a great place to relax. This beautiful property is made spectacular by the views it affords over the local river and countryside.
Situated close to the main road with easy access to the former spa town of Matlock alongside the River Derwent, a vibrant shopping and tourist area with Victorian architecture, petrifying wells, show caverns and pleasure gardens including most notably Hall Leys Park, which provides various leisure and sporting facilities right in the centre of town. Downriver lies Matlock Bath, this historic village is set in a steep-sided limestone gorge with whitewashed cottages perched along the hill side. Nearer the river a more touristy atmosphere prevails with its many attractions from museums and cafés to souvenir shops. On the western side of the gorge is the Heights of Abraham with superb views and amenities, including restaurant and picnic area. A cable car can be taken to the top from Matlock Bath railway station. Between Matlock and Matlock Bath is High Tor, a broad limestone cliff rising some 400 feet above the River Derwent. Around High Tor there is a network of paths suitable for exploring the area and from which to experience the spectacular views. In the grounds below there are refreshment facilities, picnic areas, children’s playground, wooded walks and two caverns.
There are many historic houses such as Chatsworth and Haddon Hall, both well worth a visit, along with the market town of Bakewell. Carsington Water is a huge draw for outdoor enthusiasts with outdoor activities including walking, cycling, birdwatching, sailing, canoeing, and windsurfing all available. Fly fishing is available from the bank and from boats that can be hired from the fishing lodge. Shop, pub and restaurant 1 mile.

Very convenient for Chatsworth and Matlock. Main road can be a bit busy but location makes up for it. had everything we needed.

This is a gorgeous little cottage in a fantastic location. We absolutely loved our stay here and would definitely recommend it. Communication before arrival was great, it was cosy and warm with the wood burner and had everything we needed. The canal path, a few steps away, was a beautiful walk too.
