Waterfall Cottage is a renovated barn conversion just a stone’s throw from the stunning Lumsdale Waterfall in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with historic mill ruins and ponds dating back to the Industrial Age. Situated within the owner’s extensive 16-acre grounds looking out on to open fields, this charming cottage offers light and airy accommodation all on one level. This stunning property has an open plan layout with the living room having oak beams and a wood burner. The large patio doors open out on to a secluded patio with garden furniture and a BBQ. Stone steps lead from the patio to a private grass area for further relaxation. There are two bedrooms: one with a kingsize bed, and the other with twin beds. The shower room has a large walk-in shower.
Outside, visitors can also enjoy a spacious open area with garden ponds and a stream. These grounds, which are shared with the neighbouring holiday cottage, are very large and provide the ideal place where you can fly kites, play ball games or just to relax on a quiet evening watching the sun set whilst enjoying a spot of alfresco dining.
Here at Waterfall Cottage you have the best of both worlds: wonderful walks in the surrounding open Derbyshire countryside, and for days out, you are within close proximity to all the major tourist attractions the Derbyshire Dales have to offer. Certainly an idyllic rural retreat, yet the historic spa town of Matlock is only a mile away with its award-winning park where band concerts can be enjoyed on a Sunday summer afternoon, and where an annual Christmas Victorian Market is held in December. Matlock Bath, named the little Switzerland of England, is just a couple of miles away and the famous illuminations are held here each year in September. Shop, pub and restaurant 1 mile.
Waterfall Cottage can be booked together with Water Bailiffs Lodge (CC418024) to accommodate up to 12 guests.
Children must be supervised on site due to possible safety hazards.

Wanted a short break away and found this beautiful cottage! So glad that we booked it! Wendy was so welcoming and kind. She gave so much information on things we can do around the village. There is so much to explore and we enjoyed our stay at this wonderful cottage. It has everything we need! Waterfall Cottage was the most comfortable and cosy place we have stayed in !! Clean, well equipped, lovely welcome and nut free treats from Wendy and family , beautiful location and so close to local shops and restaurants. We were both under the weather during our stay but the cosiness of Waterfall was the right place to be! Sadly we didn’t get to the waterfall itself due to illness and the muddy paths to it but we are looking to return in 2027. Recommend The Boat in Cromford !

3 nights at Waterfall Cottage was not long enough! We were warmly greeted by Wendy, who had left a lovely welcome pack, plus a “Birthday Breakfast” for myself for the following morning. The cottage itself was clean warm and comfortable and we did enjoy the log burner stove in the late afternoon and evenings. View from the large lounge window was great, it will look even better in the summer. Ask Wendy if her husband Nigel will show you his piece of historical “treasure “. All in a perfect place to spend my birthday and can’t wait to go back.
