Lodge Not sure how this lodge had received the stars that it has as it is definitely not 5 star nor is it a premium lodge. We have stopped in many, and this is not is. We booked it 9pm the night before so received a discount. Without the discount we would not of been happy and would have been complaining from the moment we arrived. We wanted to believe the bad reviews were just disgruntled guests but sadly we do have to agree with every single one of them. The site itself is beautiful. Not too hard to get to and is well kept. Upon arrival we were met by a female member of staff who gave us a quick run down of the layout, check out etc, and damage fines (this was the first of many). Back of front door : ensure property is clean and tidy, strip all bedding and towels put all in laundry bag, remove all rubbish, leave key with site manager. “Failure to do any of the above will result in a relevant charge been deducted from your security deposit” … nice touchThe accommodation was dirty. We take photos of everything wrong with any accommodation upon arrival to prevent any further issues. Stains on the curtains, carpets, bed valances, dirty oven trays, saucepans, cups. The mattress in the main bedroom NEEDS replacing! This was pointed out months ago on a previous review and nothing has been done. No hair dryer, no individual WiFi which we have had at every other 5* lodge, no mirror at dressing table, over complicated microwave needed instructions, just have a simple microwave! Broken mirror light in main bathroom. Toilet in main bedroom stiff to flush. Exterior of oven gets very hot, dangerous for young children. wine cooler gets hot with nothing in and beeps all night, hot tub had no temperature control just an old standard model that is no good during a heat wave, hot tub also dirty, cigarette hole in Hottub lid. The needless nic-naks… leave dressing table and tables clear, not three sets of three ornaments easily broken and glass vases inviting deductions to your security deposit. The insects, my god the insects! Leave lemon candles or install an insect light, or leave bug spray. These would be much more useful than another thin, oval vase. I cleaned the place top to bottom on arrival. Hoovered all the dead insects stuck within the spot lights and in between the wooden slats on the ceiling. Even the spider webs on the support beam in the main bedroom. The cleaner needs replacing. Again, if I hadn’t of had a discount we would have left. I got bit 3 times on the first night. Read into that as you will. The two single beds are good and my children slept fine besides the thermal quilt covers. Cotton bed sheets during a heat wave would have been much better. Second bedroom bathroom worked as it should. The lodge itself is pretty but needs updating and basic care. There is an information folder, and within is site information, things to do, takeaway numbers… and you guessed it! Rules and prices for all of the deductions and charges applied. Gives you an awful feeling that they’re just out to take where they can. They require the lodge is cleaned, but provide you with a hoover and washing up liquid. No mop, no disinfectant, one washing up tablet and window cleaning blades. Again, set up for a deep cleaning fee. We spent 3 out of our 4 days out all day and were only there for dinner and bed. On day 4 we were met by a VILE woman next door. My autistic 4 year old who has the hand eye coordination of a snail, was gently kicking a ball on the grass infront of the lodge. Not in any of the pages of rules that he cannot. Nor is there “no ball games” signs. This woman complains that he cannot be there. I told her it is 5 pm and is kicking the ball in complete silence, still holding his autism fidget. She text site manager John, who came and told us no balls allowed. I told him she was being petty and this was completely unnecessary. Throughout the afternoon other children played on the grass where she was looking for my children on her balcony, whilst mine were inside eating dinner. She continued to bark at any other children where they ran off. Not a word was said to this complete vermin of a human. You’re at a family campsite! At this point we fed our children and packed up and left a day early. We handed the keys to John and told him 1) no balls games was not disclosed or sign posted. Said it was on paperwork. Told him I photographed every piece of paperwork. It is not. 2) how dirty and poor the accommodation was. And 3) we got complained at for kicking a ball but this woman terrorised all children that passed her lodge. He apologised but damage was done. Reminding guest constantly of their security deposit and fees is not a good look. Having undisclosed rules on top of the plentiful rules already, not a good luck. This is not 5* accommodation. And if you’re going to enforce non disclosed rules, apply them to all your guests, including bullying behaviour to children. This place is stunning. Shame the maintenance and care for the accommodation and guests fails miserably to live up to the same standards.

The osprey is a beautiful lodge to stay in no issues at all if I was looking to pick faults you could find one or two but you can ignore those for the setting and surroundings.

Best Hoseasons lodge we have stayed in so far, only a couple of light bulbs not working but that did not spoil it for us. Plenty of space and nice comfy beds.
