Bike store. No smoking.. The Retreat offers stunning accommodation for up to four guests. The ground floor is an open plan kitchen and living space, finished to a high standard with comfortable sofa that can be made up as a double sofa bed and TV. The space is shared with a well-equipped kitchen with breakfast bar to seat two guests with a further table available for two more guests if required. Patio doors open out from the living area onto a lovely enclosed garden with corner sofa seating, manicured lawn and shrubs. Take the stairs up to the first floor where a galleried kingsize bedroom awaits, dressed with comfortable and soft linens for a dreamy nights sleep; there is space around the bedroom with a further window looking over the back garden. An en-suite shower room is just off from the bedroom for convenience which is modern and finished to a great standard. Overall The Retreat is a beautiful holiday home to be enjoyed by you.
Kirklington is a quaint village setting and exudes a peaceful countryside charm with its winding lanes. Visit the village’s stunning medieval church, St. Swithuns, known for its architecture and stained glass windows. For outdoor enthusiasts, the surrounding countryside offers numerous walking and cycling routes allowing you to soak up the beauty of the rural landscape. A short drive away is Newark Castle which stands as a testament to history and gives you a glimpse into the area’s past. The castle often hosts events and exhibitions that showcase its heritage. National Civil War Centre in Newark will take you back to the 17th century to uncover one of the most turbulent times in British history. Sherwood Forest is legendary and famous for its association with Robin Hood and its ancient oak trees and makes for a fantastic day out, along with Clumber Park. Norwood Park, Newstead Abbey and Southwell Race course are close by to visit. Head into he market town of Newark where you can enjoy a diverse range of shops and boutiques.

We needed a base in the area and this little gem was perfect. Lovely, helpful host and property was bright, clean and attractive, with a perfect enclosed and well tended garden. Lots of beautiful walks to enjoy, some straight from the property enabling us to leave the car behind. The nearby town of Southwell was a wonderful, every thing we needed in terms of shops and services, very historical and attractive, with excellent walking trails. Plenty of other attractions and restaurants in the area and the property is well positioned to visit Lincoln, Newark and Nottingham. We would visit again.

The Retreat is ideal for couples with a dog. There are plenty of local footpaths for walks and being on a main road, it is easy to get to local attractions.The hosts were very helpful and friendly. The enclosed garden was ideal for the dog as we could let him wander in and out as necessary.Everything you could possibly need was thought of, although a mirror in the bedroom would be excellent for drying hair, etc.
