Between Oakham and Melton Mowbray in England, there is a lovely village called Whissendine. The village's Grade II* listed Whissendine Windmill is a popular tourist attraction, and the area also hosts the Whissendine Craft and Produce Show in September, Feast Week in July, a bi-annual Flower Festival, and scenic walks and birdwatching opportunities throughout the year. The White Lion Inn and a local convenience store offer a variety of dining alternatives. Further activities and services may be found in the town of Oakham, which is close by and includes Oakham Castle, Rutland Country Museum and The Anglian Water Bird Watching Centre. Oakham is just a short drive away from the village.
