Stayed for a second year at this cottage. Can’t fault it at all. Plenty of space in the living area, a modern well equipped kitchen too. A super efficient woodburner that’s nice to have in the winter, although this cottage is not cold at all. Modern bathroom and a great over bath shower. A small courtyard out the back is safe for dogs, and has a table to sit out in summer. Parking is always easy, on the road outside, or the courtyard opposite. In the two times I’ve stayed, I’ve never struggled with parking. Cottage is a 2 minute walk from the Market Place in Cockermouth, and 5 minutes to the middle of the high street. Plenty of pubs, eateries, takeaways, shops to use too. The Swan pub is a 50 yards from front door, and so is The bitter end pub. These are all very good. As is the Castle Bar and the Jennings brewery bar. Sainsburys within walking distance, and Aldi, Lidl are all about a 5 minute drive. From the cottage, within 5 minutes driving you’ll be on the A66 to Keswick and Ullswater, both a short and simple journey. Or, the other way along to Ennerdale. It’s why we chose this area to stay, excellent access to town and easy to leave Cockermouth and away to other places to visit. If you’re looking to stay in this area of the Lakes, you can’t go wrong with this place.
