4 The Plosh is a charming Lakeland cottage praised for its superb location in the heart of Keswick, ideal for exploring the town and fell walking. Guests appreciate its character and find it well-equipped for a comfortable stay, though some noted areas for improvement in cleanliness and maintenance.
Several reviews mention a musty smell and a need for a deep clean, with specific references to cobwebs and stained pillowcases. However, some guests found it clean enough for a pleasant stay.
The cottage's location is consistently lauded as excellent, being just a short walk from the town centre and local amenities, making it a perfect base for exploring Keswick.
The comfort of the cottage receives mixed reviews. While some guests find it cosy and charming, others mention issues with a low bed and mattress support, as well as the inconvenience of the bathroom being on a different floor.
Guests report that the cottage is well-equipped, but there are several mentions of maintenance issues such as a dripping tap, poor TV reception, and loose fittings. The need for clearer instructions for the oven and TV is also noted.
There are no mentions of gifts or special touches that would indicate thoughtfulness from the hosts, so it is not possible to provide a score in this category.

This is a nice little house, conveniently located for the town centre. Parking is in nearby car parks, with the opportunity to unload at the house, so it's ok. Unfortunately there were a lot of unsatisfactory issues, that meant it wasn't an entirely comfortable week. The TV was very poor. All channels unwatchable until I discovered the Smart TV function, but still rather hit and miss and had to watch some programmes on my phone as I couldn't get on the TV. In the kitchen there was a dripping tap, nothing to open a bottle with, no wooden spoons, rubbish knives with split plastic handles, and an unpleasant damp smell in the cupboards. It took me three days to realise that the oven and grill only work when the clock has been set! It's just not a user-friendly house. Needs to have more information about how to access basic facilities, such as TV and oven.

Would recommend 4 The Plosh for a couple. Downside: Bed is very low down to the floor, contained within a wooden frame which has sharp edges and caught lower shins when getting in and out - painful! On a positive note, the property is authentic, lots of character and charm of a Lakeland cottage. The Plosh is highly featured during the Lakeland Hauntings Lady Tour! The location is brilliant, a few minutes walk into the centre or the lake and a great base for Fell Walking.

It's in a great location for centre of town. Rather basic living room could do with modernisation but the kitchen is good. Had a damp musty smell in bedroom. Would stay again mainly for location.
