Guests say

4 The Plosh is a charming Lakeland cottage in the heart of Keswick, praised for its unbeatable central location and cosy atmosphere. Guests appreciate its well-equipped kitchen, comfortable furnishings, and proximity to shops, restaurants, and walking routes. While some mention minor maintenance issues and a need for deeper cleaning, most found the cottage provided everything needed for a pleasant stay. The unique layout with multiple stairs and the bathroom on a separate floor may not suit everyone, but overall, it offers a welcoming base for exploring the Lake District.

Several guests noted the cottage was generally clean, but recurring comments mention dust, cobwebs, musty smells, and occasional stains. Some felt a deeper clean was needed, especially in the bathroom and kitchen, though others found it tidy and comfortable.

The location is consistently praised as excellent, with guests loving the short walk to Keswick town centre, the lake, and local amenities. Its central position is a standout feature for most visitors.

Guests found the cottage cosy and homely, with comfortable sofas and beds. However, some mentioned the bed was low and not very supportive, and the layout with many stairs and the bathroom on a different floor could be inconvenient for some.

The cottage is well-equipped with kitchen appliances, a dishwasher, and essentials, but some guests experienced issues with the TV, dripping taps, loose fittings, and a lack of basic kitchen utensils. Parking permits and good Wi-Fi were appreciated.

Some guests noted the absence of basic items like salt, pepper, and tea bags, and there were no welcome gifts mentioned. While dishwasher tablets were provided, amenities were otherwise minimal. Please note that gifts or extras are not guaranteed.

We enjoyed our short stay at 4 The Plosh, ideally situated in the centre of Keswick near George Fisher. There isn’t a dedicated parking space but can unload car and easily park in any of the nearby long stay car parks - can organise a free online permit with cottages.com. The front door of this end terrace is up a couple of steps and leads straight into the lounge, having a comfortable sofa and armchair with small tv. On the floor below, is the kitchen and only shower room/toilet. The two bedrooms are on the top floor. One a double with open wardrobe/mirror and plenty of hangers/hooks, the other has bunk beds. We found the cottage comfortable, having everything we needed. In the kitchen there is a hob, oven, microwave, fridge with a small freezer compartment, a dishwasher. There’s a small dining table and 4 chairs. The shower room is clean and freshly painted. As others have mentioned there are lots of stairs. There’s no outdoor space but this didn’t bother us because the cottage is so close to local parks, walks, lake and shops etc. We would def visit again.

Great place for a weeks stay in Keswick. Everything within easy distance and very quiet. Only thing really letting it down is lack of outside space to use. Well appointed, comfortable with everything needed. Def would book again

Television was a problem, but Cottages sent someone to help very promptly. You must know before you go that the bathroom is a way from the bedroom. Lots of stairs. But if you know then that is fine, we did. The tap in the kitchen was annoying as it dripped at all times. Small thing but annoying.
