Guests say

Cottam Road offers stunning panoramic views and a peaceful rural setting, making it an excellent base for exploring the Lake District. Guests consistently praise the location, scenery, and friendly host. While the cottage is comfortable and well-equipped for most needs, some guests noted issues with cleanliness, limited privacy, and a lack of basic kitchen essentials. The property is attached to the owner's house, which can occasionally affect privacy and noise levels. Overall, it is a charming spot for couples or solo travellers seeking a scenic retreat.

Several guests mentioned issues such as dust, cobwebs, spiders, and a need for deeper cleaning, particularly around the bed and kitchen. However, some reviews found the accommodation clean and comfortable. The mixed feedback suggests cleanliness is adequate but could be improved.

The location is highly praised for its incredible views, peaceful surroundings, and proximity to Keswick and local walks. Nearly all reviews highlight the scenery and setting as a major positive.

Guests generally found the cottage comfortable, with positive comments about the bed and shower. Some noted the apartment could be cold at times, and there were occasional issues with noise from the adjoining house and limited seating in the lounge.

Facilities are described as adequate, but several guests noted missing kitchen basics (e.g., salt, pepper, tea towels, bin bags), and some found the kitchen poorly equipped. The heating is on a timer, and there were occasional issues with parking and garden access.

The host is frequently described as friendly and helpful, and some thoughtful touches like blankets and a hot water bottle were appreciated. However, these are not guaranteed, and some guests felt more attention to detail (such as providing basic supplies) would enhance the experience.

Great views but please be aware this is an extension on the side of the owners house with 2 connecting doors.!! If the owner is there with his family you will experience a lot of noise that will spoil your holiday.!! While we were there we had children running around shouting, dogs barking, fire alarms going off while they were cooking.!! We couldn't use the garden because the owner was out there with his family, there is no privacy what so ever, we had to keep the blinds shut at all times.!! The owner decided to start using power tools in his house and there was a lot of noise coming through the connecting doors.!! We had a very very noisy experience and the duvet cover on the bed needs to be put in the bin.!! We took our own and used that. This is a message to the owner, if you are staying there with your family you should not be renting this property out as the noise in the extension is terrible and there is no privacy for guests what so ever.!! There were children running around in the garden shouting at 7:30am in the morning THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOUR.!!

The best things about this studio for two is its location and stunning views. It's a quirky layout with a mezzanine that's not accesible to the user but great tall windows for a great view. The kitchen was adequate although missing things such as a chopping board, tin opener and tea towel and having put the rubbish out on Friday there was no replacement bin bags. The central heating kept us cosy and there was additional blankets for the bed. We didn't use the "bootroom" primarily because it was inconvenient to walk back in your slippers and it was also full of the owner's footwear. We kept our boots on plastic bags inside the front door. Overall we had a great stay despite the Lake District weather!
