Standing at the bottom of the beautifully manicured garden and looking back towards the cottage, it feels like a picture straight from a local postcard. This charming terraced cottage takes its name from the mature apple tree in the garden, which in season produces a generous harvest of fruit that guests are welcome to enjoy.
The interior has been thoughtfully designed, combining stylish décor with comfort and practicality. Fully refurbished and newly listed in 2018, Apple Tree Cottage offers all the modern amenities needed for contemporary living while retaining the authentic character and charm that make it such a welcoming retreat.
Set in a quiet village location, the cottage provides an easy escape to the countryside. On the first floor are two bright bedrooms and a family bathroom, making it ideal for two couples or a small family. Downstairs, there is a well-equipped kitchen and a spacious living room where guests can relax and enjoy views over the garden. Wildlife is often spotted here, with birds feeding and the occasional red squirrel visiting the feeder. The enclosed lawned garden is perfect for soaking up the sunshine, with colourful flower beds and rockery planting. A gate at the end of the garden leads directly to the village pub, just a few steps away.
The Sun Inn, less than 25 metres from the cottage, is a multi-award-winning pub and restaurant and a much-loved local destination, known for its food, atmosphere, and excellent selection of cask ales. Parking is plentiful, free of charge, and located just a short 20-second walk from the cottage.
For those who enjoy walking, hiking, or cycling, there is excellent access to local routes as well as more challenging fells including Skiddaw, Catbells, Latrigg, and Blencathra. Less than three miles away are two major attractions: an award-winning, internationally recognised wildlife park with over 100 species and a highly regarded café, and the famous Lakes Distillery, offering tours, tastings, a shop, café, restaurant, and even a herd of alpacas.
The popular town of Keswick is just 8 miles away on the shores of Derwentwater and offers a wide range of shops, cafés, restaurants, and attractions. Supermarkets including Booths, Co-op, and a late-opening convenience store are all available here. Keswick is also home to the Theatre by the Lake, The Pencil Museum, and The Puzzling Place. Cockermouth, birthplace of William Wordsworth, is also nearby, while the coast can be reached in around 17 miles.
