Guests say

Foxhole cottage is praised for its cosy atmosphere, well-equipped kitchen, and excellent location ideal for walkers, with beautiful views and easy access to local pubs and cafes. Guests appreciate the comfortable beds and responsive local support. However, several reviews mention issues with cleanliness, maintenance, and tight parking. While the cottage offers a homely base for exploring the Lake District, some areas would benefit from a thorough clean and minor updates to enhance the overall experience.

Cleanliness is a recurring concern, with multiple guests noting dirty kitchen equipment, mould, and areas needing a deep clean. Some guests found the cottage acceptably clean after their own efforts, but overall, cleanliness is below expectations.

The location is highly praised, with guests enjoying the proximity to walking routes, local pubs, cafes, and scenic views. The village setting and access to Keswick and Penrith are highlighted as major positives.

Guests generally find the cottage cosy and the beds comfortable, though there are occasional mentions of creaky beds and compact bathroom space. The heating is effective once on, contributing to a comfortable stay.

The cottage is well equipped, especially the kitchen, but several maintenance issues are noted, such as a faulty oven seal, shower drainage problems, and tight parking. The garden and living areas are appreciated, but some features need updating.

There are no mentions of welcome gifts or extra thoughtful touches in the reviews, so a score cannot be provided for this category.

Cottage is in a fabulous location but that is the only thing good about it . It is dirty looks unkempt from the outside . There is mould on the walls seals are all hanging off on the kitchen tops . Dirty grill pan obs not looked at when cleaners were in .Shower has mould all around the bottom of it .The whole house smells of damp .Cottages.com should not have this house on their website .

Great location. The house needed a good clean. Dirty kitchen drawers, mouldy fridge seal, stains and mould on walls and skirting, some mystery underpants under the bed. Would not recommend. Reflects badly upon Cottages.com

Comfortable and cosy cottage in a great location. We had everything we needed, lots of great walks nearby and a lovely meal at the local pub.
