Guests appreciate the well-equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, and secure garden, making it ideal for both couples and families with dogs. The presence of an EV charger and thoughtful touches are frequently mentioned. While parking can be tight and a few minor maintenance issues were noted, these do not detract from the overall positive experience. The cottage is highly recommended for a relaxing countryside break with excellent walking opportunities and friendly local pubs nearby.

Cleanliness is consistently highlighted, with guests describing the cottage as spotless, extremely clean, and well-presented. Only one review mentioned minor maintenance snags, but overall, standards are exceptionally high.

The location is praised for its tranquillity, proximity to scenic walks, and nearby pubs. Some mention the road can be busy at times, but the peaceful village setting and access to the Lake District are major positives.

Facilities are generally excellent, with a well-equipped kitchen, EV charger, and quality bedding. Some guests noted the lack of a washing machine and hairdryer, and a few minor maintenance issues, but these were outweighed by the positives.

The lovely open-plan living/dining room at Howbeck Cottage is furnished with comfy sofas, whilst the galley-style modern kitchen boasts great appliances (including a dishwasher), and that all-important coffee machine! The stylishly furnished bedrooms ensure a good night’s sleep in the sumptuous beds with crisp white linen. Howbeck Cottage is set quietly on the fringes of a small Cumbrian village, nestling in the Caldbeck Fells on the northern edge of the Lake District National Park. The village is home to a micro-brewery and community-owned shop and a post office. Nestled in a tranquil and peaceful location, Howbeck Cottage is perfect for couples or friends who like to get out and explore. The nearby village of Caldbeck offers a variety of attractions including a village shop, a farm dairy shop with fresh milk on ’tap’, two tea rooms, and craft shops, making it a great spot for a circular walk from the cottage on a quiet, relaxing day in the Lake District.

With beautiful walks right from your door, you can head to some of the quieter falls of the Lake District National Park (Northern Fells). Surrounded by a maze of quiet country lanes, you may prefer two wheels! (the cottage is located on the Reivers cycling route.)

The Lake District National Park is renowned for its stunning scenery, and from Howbeck Cottage, you can explore it all. Keswick, surrounded by lakes and mountains, is a 30-minute drive away where you can enjoy a stroll through the lovely market town with its many outdoor and independent shops, friendly cafés, and a variety of dining options, or take in a show at the local theatre.

The market town of Penrith, just 25 minutes away, offers supermarkets and several takeaways, as well as a local swimming pool and gym. Outdoor pools are located close by for the summer months. Of course, no visit to the Lake District National Park is complete without a boat cruise on one of its famous lakes, where you can discover the stunning natural landscapes on a cruise along Lake Windermere, Derwentwater, or, our favourite, Ullswater, all within a short drive of Howbeck Cottage. Beach 21 miles.

This is by far the best cottage we have stayed in, its perfect for drives to local lakes , pub is a 10 minute walk, ran by locals, we had a very good meal in there. The cottage it self is on the small side but was perfect for myself, my wife, and our 2 16 year old daughters Cottage is well stocked with everything you need to make your stay comfortable The driveway is a bit tight but I managed to get a volkswagon mini van in there (7 seater) without any trouble, so please dont let that put you off booking The garden is completely enclosed so our dog had complete freedom to roam as she pleased Honestly couldn't have enjoyed our stay any more , nothing would improve this cottage for us, it has everything LocationDog friendly Equipment Cleanliness Absolutely loved it and will definitely return

Quiet, remote enough and very comfortable. It was just perfect for me, but only slight things to say, was no shower product. As single have to be very careful as a lot of drivers driving far to fast and should if not on your own have someone at brow of bank checking for cars coming into village as stated in welcome pack- that covered everything as well. Reverse into parking drive to ensure an easier exit. Enjoyed every minute. Beautiful surroundings. Needed chill time superb for just that.
