Cartmel 3.1 miles. Situated in the peaceful village of High Newton, close to the amenities of Cartmel and Grange-over-Sands, is this spacious, end-of-terrace cottage, Glendene. Hosting three bedrooms, this attractive retreat offers a great base for family and friends to come together and discover the Lake District National Park. As you enter the property you are greeted by the homely kitchen/diner, which boasts a sociable space including a dining table and lots of kitchen appliances, including a range cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer and even the dishwasher, so you won’t have to a lift a finger when it comes to washing up! There is a lovely sitting area, where you can sink into the sofa in front of the cosy woodburning stove, ideal for those colder periods of the year.

As the evening draws to a close, move upstairs to the bedrooms, consisting of two king-size bedrooms and a twin, which can be arranged as a king-size on request. Each bedroom hosts tasteful furnishings and plenty of storage for your personal belongings. The bathroom completes the interior with a bath and over head shower. Step outside and spend a moment in the enclosed, south-facing garden, complete with a lawn and patio furniture where you can relax whilst your pooch has a roam. Venture off on a scenic walk over the rolling hills and through the open fields, before stopping off at the popular Yew Tree Barn for a nibble at the on-site café.

The pretty village of Cartmel is nearby and offers a further range of eateries, including the Michelin star rated L’Enclume restaurant, along with some fabulous attractions such as the UK’s smallest racecourse, hosting popular events throughout the summer. The local Edwardian town of Grange-over-Sands is also well worth a visit, or take off in the other direction to explore the market town of Kendal, filled with culture, intriguing history and a vibrant shopping experience. Close to the southern tip of Lake Windermere, but also close to Morecambe Bay, this cottage is a perfect base for year-round Cumbrian getaway.

Regarded as the prettiest village in the Lake District, Cartmel is a popular base for holidaymakers, any time of year. This ancient village is famous for the 12th century priory, with its beautiful architecture, it is also known for holding the UK’s smallest racecourse, a popular attraction in the summer. Just two miles away is the Edwardian resort of Grange-over-Sands, with its fascinating history and culture, whilst the attractions of Kendal and Lake Windermere rest further afield.
