Grey Crag Barn is a wonderfully sociable space for six people, with two separate living rooms, including the superb open plan top floor kitchen, dining and lounge area, which really makes best use of those stunning views through its dual aspect windows.

You will want to spend much of your time here on the gorgeous sun terrace, which can be accessed from both the garden and the top-floor living space. This is the place to simply sit out and soak it all in. With a chilled glass of wine, of course!

Inside you will find a real home-from-home, lovingly created to make sure your special holiday is spent in genuine comfort with that all important hint of decadence. Those unforgettable period features, including original oaken beams, really define your stay here, and the downstairs sitting room is a perfect place to chill out, with beautiful Lakeland slate floor, large television and Wii games console, and stylish spiral staircase.

The abundant art galleries, including the Heaton Cooper Gallery, showcasing the work of the celebrated Lakeland artist, provide hours of interest, and a chance to take one of those stunning views home with you. Further cultural interest is to be found in the old church at the centre of the village, and Dove Cottage, family home to Willam Wordsworth, and now a museum in his honour.

Situated in the heart of the Lake District National Park is the lovely village of Grasmere, probably best known as the home of William Wordsworth, a place he once described as "The most loveliest spot that man hath found". Any visit to Grasmere needs to include The Grasmere Gingerbread shop, where the Wilson family have been making gingerbread for over 60 years. Also in the village are a number of shops, pubs, a church which dates back to the 13th century and Grasmere Lake, plus Grasmere Sports takes place every August, where you can watch participants compete in a variety of sports, including Cumberland Wrestling. Just five miles away is the town of Ambleside and Lake Winderemere where you will find shops, pubs, restaurants and the 17th century Bridge House, which is one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District. Cruises, boat trips and watersports can all be enjoyed on Lake Windermere and the towns of Windermere and Keswick are also within driving distance. Grasmere is a wonderful base for your Lake District retreat.
