Located just a mile to the south of Coniston Village, Arrowfield House a beautiful Victorian country home within easy reach of the shores of Coniston Water. This beautiful, Victorian country house has been extended to combine the elegance of the original home with a smart contemporary twist with the focus being on the spacious and social layout of the property.
The front door opens to the elegant Victorian hallway that runs through the house. To the left is the spacious dual aspect living room with comfortable sofas arranged around the cosy open fire whilst across the hallway is the second sitting room with large screen TV and log burner. To the rear the modern extension extends into the garden with beautiful views to the surrounding countryside. The bright and airy garden room is a lovely place to relax and where the floor to ceiling windows allow the light to flood in and patio doors open from here on to the patio and the garden. To the side the dining area is a great place to relax in an evening over a social dinner or family celebration. The large country style kitchen is well equipped and in the centre of the room is a large farmhouse table - the ideal place to gather over breakfast to plan your day in the Lake District. Patio doors open from the kitchen directly to the garden and there is a large pantry/food preparation room. There is also a utility room with space for boots and outdoor gear with a washing machine and tumble dryer. The beautifully furnished bedrooms are spread over the first and second floor. On the first floor there are two superb king-size bedrooms, a luxurious family bathroom with feature bath and walk in shower, a smart shower room, and a work from home office room. Guests then have a choice of either a children’s bedroom with bunk beds or a lovely double room located on the top floor (please specify your choice when booking) The garden wraps around the house with well planted borders, shrubs, lawn and mature trees frame the view. A spacious patio is furnished with outdoor dining furniture and is a real treat on a summers evening.
There are two pubs and a small deli in Torver (5 minutes’ walk) and Coniston is a 30 minute walk away with a choice of popular Lakeland pubs, the village brewery and local shops. With easy access to Coniston Water, most famously associated with Donald Campbell and still used for world water speed record attempts, the Lakeland’s third largest lake has a choice of activities on offer from canoeing and sailing to simply relaxing in Victorian elegance aboard SY Gondola. To the west of the village stand the imposing Coniston Fells; Coniston Old Man, Wetherlam and Swirl Howe. Paths to Coniston Old Man and Dow Crag are easily accessible just behind house. A short drive takes you to Ambleside and the main scenic A591 through the Lakes.
Nestling at the head of Coniston Water, the pretty village of Coniston is surrounded by some of the most beautiful scenery in the Lake District National Park, making it a superb base for touring, with Hawkshead, Ambleside, Windermere and Grasmere just a short drive away. Superb walking, mountain biking and climbing are available locally on Coniston Old Man and Wetherlam, and the lovely woodland trails at Grizedale Forest. For watersports enthusiasts, the quiet lake is ideal for dinghy sailing and canoeing, whilst the less active can enjoy a leisure cruise on the beautiful steam yacht 'Gondola’, or visit Brantwood, the former home of John Ruskin. Nearby attractions include the award-winning village of Hawkshead, home of the Beatrix Potter Gallery, Tarn Hows, one of the most visited beauty spots in the country and Esthwaite Water, famous for its fishing.
