Guests say

2 Beacon High is a well-regarded cottage in Cumbria, praised for its comfort, cleanliness, and peaceful location. Guests appreciate the thoughtful touches by the owners and the property's suitability as a base for exploring the Lake District. The garden and open fire are highlights, though some minor maintenance issues are noted.

The majority of guests found the cottage to be very clean and comfortable. However, a few mentioned the need for better cleaning of kitchen utensils and worktops, and one noted mouldy walls in the shower room.

The location is frequently described as peaceful and ideal for exploring the Lake District. The proximity to local amenities and attractions is appreciated, although some guests mentioned minor issues with signposting and mobile signal.

Guests generally found the beds comfortable and the cottage cosy, especially with the open fire. Some guests, however, found the beds too soft and the upstairs bathroom door sticky.

The cottage is well-equipped, with a strong shower pressure and good WiFi mentioned. However, guests suggested improvements such as better kitchen maintenance, extractor fans in bathrooms, and clearer instructions for amenities like the barbecue.

While many guests praised the owners for their thoughtfulness, there are no specific mentions of gifts, so it is not possible to score this category. However, guests should note that while the owners are considerate, any gifts are not guaranteed.

About this property

A truly delightful property! This charming semi-detached cottage nestles in a quiet position in the traditional south Lakeland village of Lindale, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, 3 miles from Grange-over-Sands. The cottage seamlessly combines original features and little 'nooks and crannies' with modern comforts, to provide comfortable, bright and airy accommodation. Outside there's a beautiful cottage garden and patio, ideal for warm summer evenings. It's a great location too - the coast is nearby and Lake Windermere is just a short drive away. With lovely views and many walks from the doorstep this is an idyllic retreat to be enjoyed throughout the year!

Situated in the southern Lake District and just a few short miles from the coastal estuary and the seaside town of Grange-over-Sands is the small village of Lindale. With a true 'Lakeland feel', due to its narrow streets, traditional dwellings and a quaint old pub, this charming village is positioned on the slopes of Hampsfield Fell. The coastal resorts of Arnside and Grange are worth a visit, whilst the pretty town of Cartmel - with its famous annual horse race meetings - offers plenty to see. Lake Windermere and the villages of Bowness-on-Windermere and Hawkshead are only a short drive away and still retain the charm and character that has endeared them to so many visitors. The fabulous countryside which surrounds Lindale also provides exceptional walking and cycling opportunities.

The main reason being the concerns left by previous guests don't seem to have been addressed. 1. The internet speed is something from times when we had modems. In a modern world 2 MBits is ridiculous. 2. The cottage is located in the Lake District so inclement weather is expected. There is no possibility to hang wet jackets apart from the damp and musty cupboard under the stairs. 3. Someone mentioned the sticky surfaces everywhere in the kitchen and on all the wood surfaces. We found this also appetite destroying. 4. The single beds are no way suitable for adults. 5. On a positive note the cottage is well placed for all locations in the south lakes area and the M6 is easily accessible should the a595 be clear which is these day rarely the case.

Just a few remarks: - it's a hell of a job to find it, since there is no sign or house number. We had to ask the neighbours. - for tall people like us (1.85 and 1.96) the beds are really too soft Apart from that: lovely!

A knife sharpener would be good, and a clothes horse, but beds were comfortable, the bath was lovely and all in was a nice stay.
