Binoculars for the guests have kindly been provided to help you admire the wildlife, too. Warm up in front of the electric fire as you watch a film, or rustle up a delicious meal in the well-equipped kitchen to eat together on the dining table. When you are ready for some sleep, choose from one of two en-suite bedrooms. Outside the property, you have access to the estate’s spectacular gardens to explore. The children can play on the climbing frame and the whole family can get competitive at the pitch and putt or table tennis.

The nearby village of Hawkshead (1.5 miles) has a cafe and shop, and the school that William Wordsworth attended. Enjoy water sports or shoreside walks around Esthwaite Water, or head 2.5 miles to Lake Windermere. Jump on the boats that head up and down the lake, and stop off at Ambleside (6.5 miles) for a great range of shops, restaurants and pubs. Visit Bowness-on-Windermere (11 miles) for the enchanting attraction, The World of Beatrix Potter. If you prefer to walk or hike, climb The Old Man of Coniston (6 miles) or England’s tallest mountain, Scafell Pike (10 miles).
