Staveley Park is a charming and spacious cottage praised for its comfort, especially the beds, and its idyllic location near Kendal. The large garden and proximity to local amenities in Staveley village add to its appeal. Guests appreciate the responsive hosts and the property's suitability for family gatherings and pets.
Most guests found the property to be clean and comfortable. However, there were some concerns about cleanliness, including dirty cutlery and cupboards, which suggests room for improvement in this area.
The location is highly praised for its convenience to Staveley village, local pubs, and bakeries, as well as its proximity to Windermere. The peaceful garden and nearby walking paths are also appreciated.
Guests consistently mention the comfort of the beds and the ample space for family gatherings. The property's character adds to the overall comfort, despite some minor issues with a mattress and creaky floorboards.
The property is well-equipped, but there are several mentions of maintenance issues such as a non-working oven, loose wires, and a broken extractor fan. The need for more pans and garden furniture was also noted.
While some guests missed a welcome pack, which was inconsistently provided, the reviews do not provide enough information to assess the overall thoughtfulness of the hosts. Therefore, this score is set to null, and guests should note that gifts are not guaranteed.

The kitchen is well-equipped and comes with everything you need for a great holiday. There is also a handy utility area, fully equipped with washing machine and tumble dryer. Outside you’ll find an amazing, private garden and a terrace with garden furniture. You can enjoy the sunshine in the morning with a coffee or some al fresco dining with a glass of wine while enjoying the fresh air and views of the grounds. The garden is fully enclosed by a stone wall/hedges and there are three gates, all of them wooden farm gates, which can be kept shut. There are numerous easy and more strenuous walks possible from the front door.
Staveley is a lovely, working and historic village with a celebrated gastro-pub and the Hawkshead Brewery, with good food available in both as well as in the much-loved café and the fish and chip shop. There is a grocer, a butcher, an award-winning baker and pizzeria, an artisan ice cream maker, a coffee roaster, a cycle super-store, a garage, a railway station and more. Here the River Gowan flows through the village and meets the River Kent, which provides a peaceful backdrop to the main street. Staveley is located just 12 miles off the M6, 4.5 miles from Kendal and 3.5 miles to Windermere and the popular tourist magnet of Bowness-on Windermere, offering a wide range of restaurants and gastropubs serving every possible type of cuisine you could want, from takeaway food to fine dining. You’ll find there an abundance of bars and pubs offering locally produced ales, cocktails and guest craft beers. Here you can take the Windermere steamers to Lakeside at the Southern point of the Lake and Ambleside in the North. You’ll also find several popular tourist attractions including The Beatrix Potter Attraction, which is great fun, or Brockhole where older children can enjoy a treetop safari on the high ropes. In Kendal you’ll find more of the major high street brands and supermarkets. It is itself a lovely market town and excellent for a day of sightseeing and shopping. If you love the outdoors, you’ll find wonderful walks from your doorstep, and a short drive will open up the best the Lake District National Park has to offer with an abundance of picturesque mountain landscapes along with some of the most stunning scenery, arguably, anywhere in the country.

House was warm, comfortable, clean enough and suitable for 3 generations and 2 dogs. Good kitchen and 2 other 'main' rooms allowing interaction and peaceful areas. Comfortable beds so a slight difficulty getting people out of them in the mornings. Garden is lovely and peaceful. Quick walk into Staveley across the river provides everything we needed, paths running alongside the property and Windermere so close to drive to provided plenty to do. Would return.

Fabulous house - cosy and great rooms. The beds are unbelievably comfy. Plenty of crockery, glasses and cutlery. This was our second visit. Would definitely do a third!
