About this property

Opulent Victorian ambience in Ambleside!

A perfectly presented Victorian residence, Bracken Howe will quickly become a second home for your party, and is the ideal base for spending special time with friends and family, and enjoying the best of Ambleside and the Lakes. Quality, refinement, and relaxation, not to mention a decadent hot-tub. Lakeland luxury!

This spacious property is packed full of period charm, and the classic wooden furnishings and fittings are complemented by stylish modern décor and an atmosphere of elegant relaxation.

Bring your party together in the classic dining room, and chill out in style in the tasteful drawing room, with its open fire and fine views. Unwind in front of the large, curved 3D 4K television with Sky Movies and Sports packages and BT Sports. Your sound experience will be as good as the visuals, with an excellent Naim music system, and another in the dining room! The kitchen has a fantastic range cooker, and all the mod cons you could hope for, while children will enjoy 'The Snug', a smaller reception room with a Playstation, X-box, and Nintendo Wii and a great selection of games. Meanwhile, broadband WiFi keeps you all well connected during your stay.

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.

We were so delighted on finding the house so beautifully decorated for Christmas when we arrived; it was a lovely welcome (together with the scrummy welcome hamper) to this charming, comfortable, well-equipped and well-positioned nineteenth century house. The character of the house with its original features, yet fully modernised and equipped, was delightful. The weather was pretty grim, but we expect that in the Lakes in December! It would not stop us recommending Bracken Howe at any time of the year. Thank you Phil and Janet for a wonderful weeekend.

Extremely comfortable and well laid out. Everything you could possibly need and more. Superb location, very near to all amenities. Owners respond immediately to any questions. This was a perfect fit for our family, (8 adults, 2 children and a toddler) I would definitely recommend this property to anyone.

The house is grandly spacious, comfortable and well equipped. Cold sunny days and we still made good use of the hot tub every day.
