Lama Lodge is a cosy and well-equipped cottage in Ambleside, appreciated for its quiet location and convenience for exploring the area. Guests find it warm, comfortable, and suitable for short stays, with a friendly housekeeper. The property is a good central point for local adventures, despite some minor maintenance issues.
The property is generally well-received for warmth and comfort, but one guest found uncleaned chips in the microwave, suggesting occasional oversights in cleaning.
The location is praised for its quietness and proximity to the village, though concerns about road safety and visibility are noted.
Guests describe the lodge as cosy, comfortable, and warm, with a comfortable bed and hot shower, contributing to a pleasant stay.
The lodge is well-appointed with necessary utensils and good internet. However, issues with a loose toilet seat, difficult-to-operate doors, and the absence of a BBQ as advertised suggest room for improvement in maintenance.
There is no mention of gifts or special touches that would indicate thoughtfulness, so it is not possible to provide a score in this category.

We stayed here for a little Xmas break between Christmas and new year. It was last minute and relativity cheap for the Lake District. As soon as we booked at had key safe instructions and were given the directions for how to get there. Tucked away behind some bungalows we arrived at the cottage. The key was in the door waiting for us. Upon arriving we went in and found some chips in the microwave which had obviously not been cleaned. This did put doubt in our minds as to the cleanliness of the property. However over all the property was really warm and the bed was very comfty. All of the cooking utensils were there that we needed to cook and save that little extra money rather than eating out. The tv worked great and the internet was good for what we needed it for. The shower was hot and very lovely after a long wainwright walk. The walk into hawk head was a prefect distance and brilliant for a quick drink before heading back and staying in for the night. I would 100% stay there again when we want to return.

We enjoyed our week based at Lama Cottage. We found two disadvanteages;1. The location - on a narrow and busy road wthout footpaths into Hawkshead or to reach off road walking. Could also do with a mirror to asist driving out onto the road as the property is on a bend with very poor visibility to the right.2. Disappointingly the gates were not attached so there was nowhere safe for a dog to be off lead.Otherwise Lama Lodge was as we anticipated and a good central point for exploring the area.

Lovely small place with everything we needed for a short stay. The toilet was clean and comfortable, and the bed was as well. It’s about a 10-minute walk to the bus station, and while you’ll need to take a few buses to reach different locations, it’s manageable.
