Guests generally appreciate the cottage's superb location, cosy atmosphere, and picturesque views. The proximity to Hawkshead and local attractions is a highlight, with the garden and nearby walks offering additional charm. While some guests mention issues with maintenance and comfort, the overall experience is seen as pleasant, with many expressing a desire to return.
The cottage is often described as clean, with a particularly well-maintained bathroom. However, some guests noted a need for better dusting and a damp smell in the bedrooms, slightly diminishing the overall impression of cleanliness.
The location is highly praised for its convenience to Hawkshead, beautiful views, and accessibility to local walks and attractions. The proximity to facilities and shops is appreciated, although some guests noted the road's busyness.
The comfort of the cottage receives mixed reviews. Guests enjoy the cosy atmosphere and the log burner, but some find the furniture and beds uncomfortable. The snugness of the rooms and the quality of the shower are also mentioned.
Facilities are generally well-regarded, with a well-stocked kitchen and warm heating. However, issues with satellite signal, Wi-Fi connectivity, and uncomfortable sofas are noted. The bike storage and lack of garden furniture are also points of contention.

This traditional, whitewashed, end-terrace cottage is situated in the tiny hamlet of Hannakin, less than 10 minutes' walk from the centre of the quaint village of Hawkshead and six miles from the bustling town of Ambleside. With pretty views, especially from the first floor sitting room, this wonderful cottage is a popular choice for couples or families at any time of the year. Set over two floors, but with upside down accommodation to take advantage of those views, the two bedrooms and bathroom sit on the ground floor whilst upstairs you'll find the living areas. At the side of the cottage, the patio area is festooned with pretty flowers and plants, offering a lovely sun trap in the afternoon. Why not amble into Hawkshead and enjoy the pretty cobbled yards, traditional whitewashed cottages, interesting foodie shops and old-fashioned inns? Grizedale Forest and visitor centre is just 10 minutes' drive away whilst Hill Top, home of Beatrix Potter, is 2.5 miles away and Lake Windermere lies just a little further. This beautiful part of the Lake District offers endless footpaths and bridleways to explore right from the cottage doorstep, or take the twenty minute walk to Grizedale Forest. After a long day enjoying the beautiful scenery, hurry home to your cosy cottage, put your feet up by the fire, enjoy the stunning views from the sitting room window and plan tomorrow's great adventure.
The picturesque village of Hawkshead still retains the charm and character that so endeared it to its most famous residents - William Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter. Cars are banned from the village, leaving visitors free to wander the tiny alleyways, archways and courtyards between the whitewashed 17th century houses. With stunning scenery and numerous attractions within easy touring distance, Hawkshead is in an ideal location at any time of the year.
