Nestled in a peaceful courtyard at the heart of Grasmere Village, Molly’s Cottage is a delightful stone cottage the perfect base for a family of five, seeking a memorable getaway to the Cumbrian countryside. Prepare delicious meals in the bright galley-style kitchen, equipped with an electric oven and hob, a fridge and a dishwasher for your convenience. A well-designed utility room with underfloor heating and a washing machine provides a handy space to store and dry your coats and boots after a day of fell walking. The sociable living/dining room is ideal for family gatherings. Enjoy meals around the dining table, before retiring on one of the two stylish sofas to watch TV or curl up with a good book. Upstairs, three good bedrooms - a superking, a king-size and a single - offer a tranquil retreat. A bright, contemporary shower room completes the first floor. Keen walkers can explore the vast landscapes of Green Gable or challenge themselves with a hike to the summit of Scafell Pike, England’s highest mountain. History buffs will enjoy visiting the National Trust's 19th-century Wray Castle and Beatrix Potter’s former home, Hill Top. Grasmere itself boasts attractions such as Wordsworth Grasmere and Faeryland, where you can row on Grasmere lake and enjoy tea and cake in the charming tea garden. With so much to offer, Molly’s Cottage is the perfect choice for your next self-catering stay in the Lake District.
Situated in the heart of the Lake District National Park is the lovely village of Grasmere, probably best known as the home of William Wordsworth, a place he once described as "The most loveliest spot that man hath found". Any visit to Grasmere needs to include The Grasmere Gingerbread shop, where the Wilson family have been making gingerbread for over 60 years. Also in the village are a number of shops, pubs, a church which dates back to the 13th century and Grasmere Lake, plus Grasmere Sports takes place every August, where you can watch participants compete in a variety of sports, including Cumberland Wrestling. Just five miles away is the town of Ambleside and Lake Winderemere where you will find shops, pubs, restaurants and the 17th century Bridge House, which is one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District. Cruises, boat trips and watersports can all be enjoyed on Lake Windermere and the towns of Windermere and Keswick are also within driving distance. Grasmere is a wonderful base for your Lake District retreat.
