Aira Cottage in Penrith is praised for its spaciousness, stunning location, and suitability for dogs, with easy access to walks, lakes, and local amenities. While some guests have concerns about cleanliness and maintenance, the property's charm, including a stream, sheep, and a courtyard for BBQs, is frequently mentioned. The games and puzzles provided are a hit with families.
Guests have raised concerns about cleanliness, mentioning filthy floors, cobwebs, and dirty bedding. However, not all reviews mention this issue, indicating inconsistency in cleaning standards.
The cottage's location is highly praised for its proximity to walks, cycling routes, Aira Force waterfall, and Ullswater Lake, making it an excellent spot for outdoor enthusiasts and dog owners.
The cottage is described as spacious and comfortable, with a pleasant courtyard and areas for dogs. However, some guests mentioned issues with a mouldy smell and an overflowing water boiler affecting their comfort.
Facilities like a laundry room, games, and puzzles are appreciated, but there are negative remarks about maintenance issues such as mould and a problematic water boiler.
There are no specific mentions of gifts or special thoughtful touches provided by the hosts, so it is not possible to assess this category.

We really enjoyed our stay at Aira Cottage. It’s in a beautiful location across a stream from the Aira Force National Trust car park (no noise or nuisance from any of that by the way) so we were able to do a fabulous walk right from the cottage across the tops to Dockray and back round via Gowbarrow Fell. The cottage is warm and welcoming. Loads of private parking. Well equipped kitchen wise. Lots of space (although there were only two of us) with a good utility room for boots and coats to be out of the way and an excellent laundry in the outbuilding. Water pressure in the showers and bath were excellent. It was lovely to be able to have a hot soak after a big walk up Scafell Pike. Lovely towels too. The WiFi was good with just one tiny outage on the morning we were leaving which was due to the satellite provider rather than the cottage.Tracey, who looks after the cottage and the owner were very helpful on the day we were travelling up as I hadn’t read the very clear instructions that said to contact Tracey 3 days before to get key instructions. They were super responsive to our mini user error crisis! We would definitely stay here again. We feel very lucky to have found such a lovely place for our week in the lakes. Thank you.
