Barn End is situated in Watermillock, just a few hundred meters from the Ullswater shoreline, an idyllic position surrounded by open fields with lovely views from the grounds. Barn End is oozing quality and character with its original features and beautiful furnishings. It is perfect for a family break or an activity holiday, with lockable storage for canoes, bikes, windsurfs etc.
Situated an acre of beautiful gardens and only a stone’s throw from the lake, with walks from the doorstep, including Aira Force where you can enjoy stunning views of Ullswater along the way. There are a few local inn’s and hotels that are within a mile from the property, serving hot homely food. There is much to do and see around Ullswater, from the spectacular Aira Force waterfall, to walks on the high fells or cruises round the lake on the Ullswater steamers.

The house and garden and location were good.Only downside was not enough seating at the table(6) for a 7 person house, and lounge seating (5) for a 7 persons house.There was no welcome hamper! Which I read was very nice from other reviews. A shame really as 18 years of holidays we have always had one.Didn’t dampen the holiday though

We were a family of 7 staying in Barn End for 3 nights.We were wowed as soon as we arrived.The views are stunning, the gardens are so well kept and gorgeous.The parking is plentiful and secure.Inside - the utility area was so handy for our muddy boots.The lane is a main road so you must be mindful when leaving the home on foot.A public footpath across the road was so handy in walking through the fields to the Backenrigg Inn.Inside - the kitchen had so much storage and room for us to prepare food.The living space was huge. Felt roomy even with 7.The fire made us cozy every night.The board games were excellent.The downstairs cloakroom and toilet again, so handy.Upstairs - the rooms were roomy with lots of storage.The childrens room was perfect for my 3 year old and the blinds were dark enough for her daytime naps..The whole place was very safe for children.The tree swing of course was a favourite.The bathroom was modern.Everything was spotless.The attention to details amazing.The vanity cases for all of us were a hit.There were views from every room with window seats in each.It is safe to say none of us wanted to leave to return home.

Absolutely beautiful house, garden and location. The house is so cosy with everything you need for your break away. We had a wonderful relaxing stay in the perfect location. They have thought of everything to help your stay achieve that. We will definitely be booking to go back. Great for everyone.
