Millcroft Cottage is a cosy and well-equipped property in a superb location for exploring the Lake District, with many guests praising its warmth, proximity to walks, and well-appointed kitchen. While some minor maintenance issues and cleanliness concerns were noted, the overall experience was positive, with many guests enjoying the comfort and charm of the cottage and expressing a desire to return.
Guests have had mixed experiences with cleanliness. Some found the cottage to be cosy and tidy, while others noted areas that could benefit from deeper cleaning, such as kitchen grubbiness and exterior weeds. The property seems well-kept for the most part, but attention to detail in certain areas could enhance its appeal.
The location of the cottage is highly praised for its convenience and beauty, with easy access to local amenities, walks, and the lake. The availability of parking and the proximity to attractions like Helvellyn contribute to its appeal, despite some temporary road closures nearby.
The cottage is generally regarded as cosy and comfortable, with a warm atmosphere and good heating. However, some guests mentioned issues with mattresses and boiler reliability, suggesting room for improvement in ensuring consistent comfort for all guests.
Facilities are well-received, with a well-equipped kitchen and good shower being highlights. However, the absence of a tumble dryer, despite being advertised, and some minor maintenance needs like door lock repairs and an intermittent extractor fan, have led to a slightly lower score.
