Location excellent but this place needs a good sort out, more than the cleaner can do in a changeover. There is dust everywhere, cobwebs in the kitchen.. the oven hasn’t been cleaned for ages and the frying pans need chucking out. It really is bad otherwise I would not tell you.. it’s nice to see loads of books, but they’re badly in need of sorting out. The lounge is very cold and only seats for although there are only two of us that did not matter. The TV is a joke. The Wi-Fi was broken, which we did report. The heating was sketchy to say the least.. when we did get it on it never really got much above tepid. It was a warm week but cool in morning and evening. The garden is terrace and the lawn was cut but the borders are in a mess. It just needs sorting out. It seems to us that the owner must get over there and give the place a thorough clean and tidy up. E.g. it’s never been swept around the front doormat. There is an overall feeling of neglect. I do feel most strongly about this and although we enjoyed our holiday because of the good weather we were still very surprised and shocked by the state of the place. Please clean it up.!

Amazing cottage, perfect location if you are going to the lakes for walking. Really homely, warm and beautifully remote.

Spent five nights at Hallinbank Bank Farmhouse, sadly in not good weather. It’s very isolated with no phone signal, and a WiFi system that works well in some rooms, and not at all in others. But you soon get used to that and adapt accordingly! Views are beautiful (when the clouds aren’t down over the hills). The farmhouse is a typical old family home, with drawers and cupboards full of interesting ’stuff’, thousands of books and loads of board games and puzzles.
