Spent five nights at Hallinbank Bank Farmhouse, sadly in not good weather. It’s very isolated with no phone signal, and a WiFi system that works well in some rooms, and not at all in others. But you soon get used to that and adapt accordingly! Views are beautiful (when the clouds aren’t down over the hills). The farmhouse is a typical old family home, with drawers and cupboards full of interesting ’stuff’, thousands of books and loads of board games and puzzles.

Absolutely stunning location in a beautiful and relatively quiet part of the Lake District. Cottage was full of character with a lovely terraced garden. Only 15 minutes drive from Pooley Bridge but the cottage’s remote location provides a tranquil setting for a peaceful / relaxing holiday. We were lucky with the weather and walked down to the cove / beach at Sandwick for a swim in Ullswater, which our dog absolutely loved. Added bonus, that we were able to arrange a shopping delivery to such a remote location. No hesitation in recommending and would love to return sometime soon.

Beautiful much loved cottage with a stunning back drop of lakes surrounding it. Good sized bedrooms, comfortable beds. Clean to good standard. Excellent choice of reading material for both children and adults alike. The board games cupboard had something for everyone. Kitchen had everything you needed for cooking and baking to. The gardens were beautifully kept with a mixture of mowed and wild areas. Easy walking (1.1miles) distance to the Howtown to the Ullswater ferry port to access Poolley bridge and Glenridding.Numerous walking routes accessible from your door so no need to drive if prefer not to. WiFi was available but only in a few areas of the cottage but even that was a bit hit and miss. We loved having a break from our devices for the time we were there. Would recommend to family and friend’s.
