The Mains was perfect for us, with excellent bike storage and rather lovely gardens, particularly the front cottage-style garden, complete with patio and delightful summer house. Elizabeth is a very welcoming, unobtrusive host who generously allows guests to enjoy her beautiful garden space. The house itself was spotlessly clean, very characterful and comfortable, with a well-equipped kitchen. The village pub and hotel both do good food, with outside seating options for a sunny day. Great location for pleasant cycling, fell walking and sightseeing.

Stainton is quiet and perfectly placed between Penrith and Keswick for exploring the Lake District. Accommodation was comfortable, quiet and had everything we needed. Elizabeth was the perfect host, very helpful and communicative. The summerhouse was a welcome feature as we were lucky to stay there during a heatwave.

Absolute fantastic cottage in a lovely village. The cottage was very well equipped, having everything you need. It was very fresh and lovely decorated with beautiful gardens to the rear and the front with a lovely sun lounge you had full use of. The owner Elizabeth was very welcoming showing us how everything works and on hand to answer any questions. The cottage is in a perfect location for seeing the area with Ullswater lake not far. Pooley bridge was lovely as was Keswick. Penrith only a couple miles away and has a parkrun on Saturday morning if that's your thing. Lovely welcoming local pub , the kings arms for drinks and food literally 2 minutes walk from the cottage. Also a hotel for food and drink even closer and a small village shop . Happy to highly recommend and look forward to returning.
