Borran Annexe is a charming and tranquil retreat, ideal for couples and dog owners seeking a peaceful escape in the South Lakes. Guests consistently praise its beautiful rural location, secure garden, and proximity to an excellent pub. The annexe is cosy and well-equipped for short stays, with a log burner adding to its homely feel. While some mention areas needing a little TLC, such as dated furniture and minor cleaning issues, the overall experience is positive, with many guests eager to return.
Most guests found the property generally clean and tidy, with some highlighting spotless conditions. However, several reviews mention dust, cobwebs, sticky floors, and a need for deeper cleaning in certain areas, which brings the score down.
The location is widely praised for its peacefulness, beautiful views, and easy access to the Lake District and local attractions. The proximity to a highly rated pub is a frequent highlight.
Guests appreciate the cosy atmosphere, comfortable bed, and secure garden for dogs. Some mention dated or uncomfortable chairs, a low toilet, and occasional issues with heating, but overall comfort is rated positively.
The annexe is well-equipped for basic self-catering, with essentials provided. However, several guests note the lack of a traditional oven, no WiFi, limited cleaning equipment, and occasional maintenance issues such as non-working radiators and a blocked sink.
Some guests appreciated arriving to a lit log burner, but there are no consistent mentions of welcome packs or gifts. A few guests noted a lack of basic supplies like milk, sugar, or toiletries. Please note that any gestures of welcome are not guaranteed.

This cottage was very poor there was no welcome pack everything was very dated the floors were sticky we had to strip our bed on leaving and the host was very arrogant the garden outside was in appalling condition definitely one to avoid. No washing facilities for clothes. Very poor would not recommend this cottage to anyone. A thumbs down from us

This little annex is perfect for a quiet week away, our 2 dogs loved it too.It does require a refurbishment, lick of paint and a good old dust but cosy little place for a relaxing time away from the hustle and bustle.New chairs and new mattress would made a big difference but the surrounding garden and pub opposite are delightful addition to the quiet area where you can watch the lambs jumping in the local fields.

Had another lovely stay here, back for first time in 6 years with a new rescue dog Lula who absolutely loved her stay as we did too. The bed & bedding is lovely, the Annexe is small but perfect for 2 with a pet. Enclosed garden and a great log burner for cosy nights. I'd recommend bringing some bits if your going to cook on site, oil, salt n pepper, milk and sugar but The Manor is a beautiful pub for food and drinks, just a few steps away & we really enjoyed our fish Friday fish n chips and scampi and chips. Furniture a little dated but very comfortable & i wouldn't change it personally.
