Borran Annexe, part of the owner’s home, is nicely tucked away in the sleepy hamlet of Oxen Park. This studio apartment is only 3 miles from Grizedale Forest, where you can find plenty of walking and mountain bike trails suitable for all the family, and for the more experienced black route enthusiasts. has its very own cinema, and the Oxen Park Cinema Club offers regular evening films throughout the autumn and winter (Sep-Apr).
Visit the Rusland Valley which is full of archaeological excavations, including Satterthwaite Bloomery, or explore the Greenwood Trails and Hay Bridge Nature Reserve. Not far is Go Ape, which offers tree top and zip wire experiences, or just down the road is Old Hall Farm in Bouth. This working Victorian farm has steam engines, shire horses and farm machinery, and you can enjoy tractor driving or ploughing, and fresh milk is available at the gate. After a day of enjoying yourselves, sit back and watch the sun go down from the small decked patio in the garden. Borran Annex is the ideal bolt hole for visiting the southern Lakes. Beach 10 miles. Shop 3½ miles, pub and restaurant 175 yards.

perfect place to get away from it all. Peaceful and lovely views. Place is rustic and charming a bit dated but that is it's charm. It could do with a couple of new pillows and a mattress topper and a lamp to read by in the living room part but even without them i would come back. It was nice and clean people mentioned dusty on previous reviews that is after the log burner has been on. It was nice an clean and i needed to use it one day and then the place was dusty this is not the owners fault. Chris was really helpful when needed slight problem with the gate and was fixed by the time I came back and her dog and mine where both secure. Garden was lovely overlooking fields. No shops close by you need to bring what you need with you but Ulverston is only about 10- 15 mins away and has loads of shops M&s - Lidl mixed variety. You are very central visited Windemere and Coniston lakes only a short drive away. Also if you are a candle fan their is a factory outlet for wax lyrical . Oscar the dog also loved his stay and had free roam of the secure garden. Had a table a chairs perfect for morning coffee on nice weather days.

Had a great time at Borran Annexe! There’s not much close by apart from the local pub, but you’re not far from Ulverston and less than half an hour from barrow, with plenty of other places to visit within driving range. The accommodation is cosy and clean. There was a welcome pack which contained everything we needed to know (including the crucial instructions for the combo oven!) and and a drawer full of leaflets to help plan sightseeing. The reception on the TV isn’t great but that’s not really a problem, who goes on holiday to sit watching tv all week?? Excellent value for money. We may be back!

We were very disappointed with the Cottage as it did not have any Wi-Fi so we had to use our own mobile data and as for the television it kept going wrong so we couldn’t watch telly too much because the screen kept going off or losing signal
