The cottage is perfectly positioned in Newby Bridge, a hot spot for many local attractions, this popular area is home to the Lakes Aquarium and Windermere Lake Cruises, Haverthwaite steam train and many more. The start of the largest lake in the UK, Windermere is just a few minutes’ drive away where a plethora of water activities are available.
Just 15 minutes down the road is the traditional village of Cartmel, famous for its horse racing weekends and also for its sticky toffee pudding; this quirky village is definitely worth a visit. Cartmel also offers two Michelin star restaurants for you to enjoy, so be sure to book.
Hazelrigg Farm is the perfect base for a gateway into the lakes, so whether you are planning to enjoy walking a few of the 214 Wainwrights fells, cycle the fantastic roads or drive to other popular towns around Cumbria such as Ulverston, Ambleside, Coniston, Bowness-on-Windermere and Windermere, you are spoilt for choice. We had a lovely stay at Hazelrigg Farm, and Paul was there to welcome us and answer any questions when we arrived. The location is just a half hour drive or so from Windermere, so perfect for days out followed by a relaxing and peaceful evening away from it all.Our dog enjoyed playing with the two friendly collies Nellie and Ralph. Nellie left us some sticks at the door as a present, which was very cute. The farm house would be perfect for families as it has two full bathrooms, both with a bath and shower. The bed was comfy and the house was clean and tidy, with a cupboard full of board games. Being a farm, the roads are understandably narrow and used by both people and wildlife, so please drive slowly.
