Haystacks is a highly praised cottage in Cumbria, with guests consistently impressed by its stunning views, high-quality furnishings, and cleanliness. The location is ideal for exploring the Lake District, with local pubs and walks nearby. While parking can be tricky and some minor maintenance issues were noted, the overall experience is one of comfort and relaxation in a beautiful setting.
Guests have described the property as spotlessly clean, with no negative comments on cleanliness. The high standard of upkeep contributes to the overall positive experience.
The property's location is frequently highlighted for its fabulous views and proximity to local amenities, including pubs and walking paths. Some guests found the property a bit tricky to find, but this does not detract significantly from the location's appeal.
Comfort is a strong point for Haystacks, with guests finding the beds extremely comfortable and the property well-equipped. A few guests mentioned issues with heating and towel rails, but these were exceptions in otherwise glowing feedback.
The facilities are generally well-received, with a well-equipped kitchen and good internet connection. Some guests experienced minor issues with maintenance, such as the boiler and dishwasher, but the owner's responsiveness to these concerns mitigates the impact on the score.
There is no mention of gifts or special touches that would indicate thoughtfulness from the host, so it is not possible to provide a score in this category.
Looking for a property with the ‘wow factor’? This is it! Glass balconies, sumptuous bedrooms, luxury bathrooms and a magnificent kitchen are just for starters. Renewable energy powers the underfloor heating and hot water system and, with LED lighting throughout, Haystacks has been designed with the environment in mind.
Two excellent local pubs and a well-stocked local shop are just minutes away, making this property perfect for nights out and meals prepared in its sensational kitchen.
Haystacks is one of a group of three properties, yet with a feeling of total privacy. The large slate hallway leads into a superb kitchen with granite worktops and generous dining area. Bi-fold doors open onto an infinity balcony from where guests can make the most of their stunning location. A glass balustrade takes guests to the gorgeous sitting room. Its wood burning stove, beamed ceiling and welcoming sofas make this the perfect spot for guests to unwind. This room has two further balconies looking out to the lake and mountains.
The gorgeous bedrooms don’t disappoint. A super king size room, with mountain views, has an en-suite bathroom with double ended bath and separate shower. The second room enjoys equally wonderful views, a king size bed and its own bathroom with power shower over a designer bath.
With a choice of many great walks from its doorstep, and close proximity to the lively villages of Windermere and Ambleside, Haystacks makes a superb choice for those seeking 21st century comforts in the heart of the Lake District.
The small Lakeland village of Troutbeck can be found between its more famous neighbours Windermere and Ambleside, close by the Kirkstone Pass. A mixture of houses, cottages and farms, the village is scattered along a narrow lane bordered by a drystone wall. Many of these buildings date back to the 17th Century with features such as mullioned windows and heavy cylindrical chimneys and the northern end boasts its own 17th century inn. Close by, the bustling towns of Windermere and Ambleside are popular with visitors, providing a range of amenities to suit all tastes. Lake Windermere offers boat trips, including the lakeside ferry to the Lakeside Aquarium and Grizedale Forest Park. The ‘Windermere Steamboat Museum’ displays a fascinating collection of boats whilst children will enjoy the ‘World of Beatrix Potter’ in Bowness, where technology brings her characters to life. Within easy reach of destinations such as Coniston Water, Kendal, Keswick and the Lakeland Mountains, Troutbeck is ideally situated for exploring all that the region has to offer.

The four of us really enjoyed our stay, we found the cottage was perfect for our needs, it was well equipped with stunning views to Windemere. One minor point during our stay we experienced a power outage of 40 hours due to the recent storm,. I would suggest to the owners that they provide candles or some sort of lighting for such an occasion. We were lucky as we bought extra logs with us for the log burner which kept the place warm. Apart from that it is the perfect place to stay

Fabulous location views amazing.

Car parking spaces are a little awkwardly positioned but despite this frustration they are usable with care. Specifying at the last moment that unloading adjacent to the patio is not allowed seems a little tedious when using the reason that you don't want guests cars to be damaged by underground water taps etc. Allowing this for 10 minutes at the start and end of your holiday would make things much easier particularly when it's raining. I appreciate care has to be shown to the neighbours property. We raised the issue that the dishwasher had no salt or rinse aid in it when we arrived. We were told that dishwashers don't need this with most detergent tabs. We disagree and hence we're unable to use the dishwasher without going shopping for these items so we didn't use it. The two bathroom towel rails also only got less than Luke warm. We don't know why but this meant towels did not dry between uses. Again we reported this and were offered a visit to sort but as we'd coped for a few days by then we opted to avoid a maintenance visit until after we'd departed as we didnt want people they whilst we were in occupation. Movement light sensors in the hallway/bathrooms are good only downstairs and during daytime elsewhere. To have automatic movement pir sensors in bathrooms and landing are problematic at night as wake other guests when moving about. The above items are only raised for feedback purposes and not intended to be a moan, we did have a great stay and for the second time. We love the cottage and would hopefully like to repeat our stay in the future.
