Lake View in Windermere is a much-loved, tranquil cottage with stunning lake views and a peaceful yet central location, just a short walk from Bowness and the lake. Guests praise its comfort, cleanliness, and convenient parking, with many returning year after year. While the property is cosy and well-equipped, some mention that the kitchen and certain facilities could benefit from modernisation, and a few guests noted occasional cleaning issues. Overall, it offers a welcoming and relaxing base for exploring the Lake District.
Most guests found the property clean and well-presented, though a small number reported issues such as cobwebs and a slow-draining shower. The majority of reviews describe the house as spotless or very clean, but occasional lapses were noted.
The location is highly praised for being peaceful yet central, with easy walking access to Bowness, the lake, shops, and restaurants. Guests appreciate the quiet setting and the convenience of on-site parking.
Guests consistently describe the cottage as comfortable, cosy, and a home from home. The lounge and beds are highlighted for comfort, though one review notes the second bedroom may be a bit small for two adults.
Facilities are generally appreciated, especially the garage and balcony. However, several guests mention that the kitchen and cooker are dated, and there are suggestions for more electrical sockets, anti-slip bathmats, and improved internet. Some maintenance issues, such as a damp smell and rickety furniture, were also noted.
There are no mentions of welcome gifts or extra thoughtful touches in the reviews, so a score cannot be provided for this category.

Great place to stay in a quiet setting with a short walk into Bowness. Off street parking with use of a large garage. Entrance is up steps to the first floor with entrance hall, bathroom and bedrooms (one large and spacious and a smaller one which although has a double bed squeezed in, would be cramped for two adults to share). The downstairs of the house remained lovely and cool during the warm weather which made for very comfortable nights. With daytime temperatures in the mid twenties the second floor did get very warm despite keeping the blinds shut during the day while out. This was remedied by opening up the balcony doors and windows. The kitchen was well equipped (oven could do with updating) the property overall was clean and well presented.

Property needs a deep clean. Cobwebs everywhere. Shower draining so slowly and on closer investigation it was clogged with hair. Not staying here again. Furniture rickety.

Lovely, cosy home in a perfect central location. It’s only a five to ten minute walk to the shops, high street and Bowness Bay, yet the house is tucked away in its own quaint and beautiful surroundings. Sitting by the balcony window, watching the mountains and lake, was such a joy. We also really appreciated having a private garage so we could park safely on site. The only slight issues were with the hot water and the internet. The hot water seemed to run out quite quickly, likely due to a tank system, so there wasn’t enough for a bath. The showers were fine, though the water flow wasn’t very strong. The internet speed could also be improved, and we lost connection on the last day for reasons unknown.Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay there, lots beautiful places to visit nearby. Thank you.
