Absolutely fantastic and the best house we've rented in all the years we've been doing these trips! Abit of advice turn the pool heating up abit but once your in it’s not that bad but turn it up a notch! Apart from that the house was flawless and we will be returning next year

We recently stayed at North Dean near Bowness-on-Windermere as a group of friends and, while we still managed to have a lovely time together, we were very disappointed overall — especially given this property is advertised as “luxury”. Unfortunately, it is far from luxury and is, in reality, a very tired and run-down property with exceptional views and an indoor pool being its main selling points. On arrival, we were greeted with a welcome hamper containing tea bags, coffee, sugar and individual jams, but no milk to actually make a cup of tea. Small details like this really summed up the experience — lots of effort towards presentation, but lacking practical thought and attention to detail. The games facilities advertised were also incomplete. The pool table had no tips on the cues and there were no balls for the table football. We ended up buying our own cue tips and left them behind for future guests. The washing machine door handle was broken, something that had apparently already been mentioned in reviews over four months prior to our stay, yet it still hadn’t been fixed. The house itself is extremely tired throughout. Bedding and pillowcases didn’t match in some rooms, furniture and fittings were damaged or worn, curtains and carpets were stained, and there were multiple maintenance issues everywhere you looked. The decking outside was also very weathered and slippery in places. Most concerningly, when looking for a lost pen under the lounge sofa, we found what appeared to be mice droppings. This really highlighted the lack of thorough cleaning and general upkeep. The cleaners need to be reporting issues properly as they arise because many of the problems were obvious and longstanding. To be fair, we did report the issues and the management company did send contractors out promptly. Unfortunately, most items couldn’t actually be repaired because they clearly needed replacing altogether. We were offered relocation, but with only three nights remaining of our seven-night stay, after travelling a considerable distance, and with no comparable properties available with a pool, we chose to remain. The frustrating part is that this property has huge potential. The views across the lakes and surrounding peaks are absolutely stunning, and the indoor pool was a real highlight for the group. If the owners invested properly in renovating and upgrading the house, it genuinely could become the luxury accommodation it claims to be — and we would absolutely return. At present though, I would describe this as very basic accommodation in an incredible location, rather than luxury. If you’re happy overlooking tired interiors and maintenance issues in exchange for the scenery and pool, you may still enjoy your stay. Just don’t arrive expecting the standard the listing suggests.

Fabulous location with absolutely stunning views across the lake….couldn’t beat that at all! House itself was a great size and very comfortable. Needs a bit of TLC though to make it 5 star. Disappointed with the standard of cleanliness…..a clearly visible empty chocolate wrapper under the bed in the master suite and also a half empty bottle of child’s juice down the side of the bedside table just to start with. Cleaners need to pay more attention.Pool area was fantastic, great changing room facilities and a steaming hot hot tub to end your day in.
