Lakeside Lodge in Norfolk receives high praise for its peaceful setting, cleanliness, and welcoming atmosphere. Guests enjoy the wildlife, fishing opportunities, and the thoughtful touches provided by the hosts. While some mention minor issues with maintenance and noise from nearby kennels, the overall sentiment is positive, with many expressing a desire to return.
Reviews consistently highlight the immaculate condition of the lodge, with guests noting the cleanliness of the kitchenware and the overall tidiness of the property. The high standard of cleanliness contributes significantly to the positive experiences reported.
The lodge's location is frequently described as peaceful and secluded, with a beautiful lake view and proximity to local amenities. Some guests were disappointed by the closure of nearby eating places, but the tranquil setting and easy access to main roads are well-regarded.
Guests find the lodge comfortable, with a cosy atmosphere and quality fixtures. The beds are mentioned as being very comfy, and the lodge provides a quiet environment for relaxation. A few guests suggested minor additions for personal comfort, but overall satisfaction is high.
The lodge is praised for its well-equipped kitchen and high-quality facilities. However, some guests mention that the fishing lake requires attention and that the noise from nearby kennels can be disruptive. Maintenance issues like overgrown vegetation and limited cupboard space for food are noted.
Many reviews express gratitude for the thoughtful extras provided, such as welcome packs with eggs, milk, and cake. While these gestures are appreciated, it is important to note that such gifts, though common, are not guaranteed for every stay.
This wonderful lodge has been hand-built by the owner and offers a tranquil escape, ideal for couples and solo travellers. Situated on the edge of the lake on the owners' beautiful estate, this lodge has spectacular wildlife straight from the door, yet just a few minutes walk from the village centre of East Harling. Step up on to the decked area with far reaching views over the lake; this is an ideal spot for enjoying a morning coffee while planning your day, that is if you can tear yourself away from your lodge and it's surroundings! Step in from the decking via the bi-fold doors to reveal a cosy, beautifully presented light and airy open plan living area with everything you could need for your stay. The kitchen is completed to a high standard, and the bedroom is located to the back of the lodge and has an en-suite shower room. Guests staying at the lodge can enjoy this lovely estate; there is a beautiful riverside picnic area with thatched gazebo alongside the River Thet which runs through the estate, and a one acre lake with specimen fishing is available. The village of East Harling is just a short walk away and has everything you could need for your stay but there is plenty to do both close by and a short drive or cycle away. Many visitors enjoy a visit to Banham Zoo and Thetford Forest is also close by, with excellent off road cycling, wildlife, walking routes and a number of other outdoor activities and events throughout the year. The historical and vibrant city of Norwich is easily accessible from the lodge and worth a visit with its excellent range of restaurants, shops and bars. Just ten minutes by car is Snetterton motor racing circuit, an absolute must for motorsport fans as it plays host to a number of major sporting events such as the British Touring Car and the British Superbikes Championships. A perfect lodge to relax at but with the advantage of so much to enjoy close by.
The attractive village of East Harling is steeped in history and centres round the old market square and a beautiful 15th century church.
