Woodbastwick is a small, quiet, picturesque village with the famous Woodforde’s Brewery and local pub (Fur & Feather Inn) a walkable 500 yards distance. Salhouse Broad is a local attraction and day launches are available. Nearby the shopping village of Wroxham is only 4 miles, for relaxing self drive trips around the broads and rivers. The Norfolk coast is some 16 miles away with long sandy beaches, seal colonies, piers at Great Yarmouth and Cromer, with attractions such as BeWilderwood (Hoveton 5 miles away), Bure Valley Railway, the Golden Mile and Pleasurewood Hills within easy driving distance.
Norfolk has many National Trust properties to visit and the historic city of Norwich, with two cathedrals, a castle, good shopping and a host of things to see and do is only 7 miles away with access by railway from Salhouse station.
For wildlife lovers, birders and cyclists Woodbastwick offers lovely wooded countryside and Hilley Holey has a peaceful terrace with wonderful views on which to unwind and ponder the day’s activities over a glass of something special. Beach 16 miles. Shop 2½ miles, pub and restaurant 600 yards.

Had an absolute wonderful stay at Hilley Holey. It is remote which is exactly what I wanted and the small deer wander into the garden when they choose. Some may find the furniture a little dated and the property could do with a proper cooking stove (built in) but these were not issues for me and I was able to have a really relaxing week. The pub in the village is very nice, walkable, with a good variety of beers and IPAs.

It was a very nice cottage and the owner was very friendly. Some of the equipment could have been a little more up to date but was perfectly useable. The upstairs ceilings were sloped and this was not very obvious so taller people need to be careful. It was well sited for exploring the surrounding area.
