Aptly named The Pump House, this lovely property with a large garden, is located directly alongside the former Great Eastern Railway. Once the Goods Shed and Pump House of the railway station, this holiday home is located in the Old Station House grounds which is the owner’s private residence and also encompasses a small caravan site (5 pitches). Upon entry to the property, you will be fascinated by the old well, which is now covered with a safety viewing glass and presents a wonderful feature. The property is furnished and equipped for comfort and has the added benefit of being on one level.
There is direct access onto the old track-bed which is now a 26 mile footpath, bridleway and cycle route known as Marriott’s Way. This lovely facility follows the disused railway line between Norwich and Aylsham, linking up to further footpaths and trails. Whether you are a casual walker, rambler or cyclist, you will delight at the rich habitat and wildlife on the many footpaths and cycle routes in the area. For those less mobile, there are suitable surfaces along much of its length.
The village of Cawston is just a few minutes’ walk and offers a deli/café, shop and pub. Nearby attractions include National Trust properties, Blickling Hall and Felbrigg Hall, and the unique Thursford collection with its stunning Christmas show. This is an ideal location for exploring the Norfolk Broads and North Norfolk Coast. The North Norfolk beaches are 14 miles and include the traditional seaside resort of Cromer, with its glorious sandy beaches, delicious crabs and all year end of pier shows. Wroxham is 14 miles, and is known as the capital of the Norfolk Broads with daily boat hire and river trips to explore the expanse of waterways, riverside restaurants, cafes and shops.
The historical market town of Aylsham, 5 miles, for shops, cafes, market square, banks and supermarket. Experience a nostalgic trip by steam on Norfolk’s longest narrow-gauge railway which runs between Aylsham and Wroxham. The 18-mile round trip runs through pretty countryside, where you can jump on/off at the pretty villages of Brampton, Buxton and Coltishall and explore by foot. Norwich is 10 miles away, a medieval city with cathedral, castle museum, excellent shopping including two indoor malls, market square, theatre, cinemas, cafes and plenty of restaurants.

We had a fantastic 1 week holiday in Norfolk, staying at the Pump House. Such a peaceful and relaxing time with lots of things to do and places to see all very close by. Cawston village is great with a fantastic pub, delicatessen and church. The Marriot’s Way runs right by the Pump House and is great for a stroll or longer walk. The Pump House is an excellent property and is very well equipped. Also thank you for the welcome pack - much appreciated.

We had a lovely stay at the pump house.The hosts left us a welcome pack and gave us a lovely welcome. If we had not taken our own fans the cottage would have been very hot due to the weather. The local pub is nice but food not the best. The deli was great and very friendly. Lots of lovely walks and not far to drive to places in the car. We love this part of Norfolk and would definitely return to The Pump House. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

A delightful cottage in very quiet location, very close to the, and if you want village of Cawston, with an excellent traditional Public hose built in 18th Century full of charm seving very good food. Cawston Church is well worth a visit.Our hosts were welcoming and had left a nice welcome package to use, thank you.Returning to the location the grounds and buildings are historical, rabbits abound, even a Roe deer made an appearance, and if you want to see a very deep well, there is one as you enter Pump House which is illuminated and covered with armoured glass!Nice place for a stay.
